Partial Mastectomy Response

tial Mastectomy Response I'm writing in response to the partial mastectomy article in the personal experiences section of the nipple piercing page. I agree that it is a good idea to show the truly serious repurcussions that can follow *any* body modification. I believe, though, that it should be mentioned, somewhere along with that article, that staph infections can occur anywhere and in anyone. My SO's grandmother recently died after some complications from surgery brought her back to the hospital. The complications didn't kill her. The surgery didn't, either. A staph infection did. A staph infection for which the hospital ... read more

Septum Piercing Experience

tum Piercing Experience Septum Piercing Experience So I decided to get my septum pierced. I went in to Winnipeg to get it done, as I'd had a piercer recommended to me by a friend. The guy was at Primal Art and his name was Eric. After I'd filled out the form ('If I die, I don't blame the shop or anyone that works there' kind of thing), Eric sat me down in a chair that made me think of a dentist's chair and had me lean back a bit. He explained the procedure in detail to me, showing me the ... read more

Navel Experience

el Experience I have to thank BME for all the information I found on piercing. It's what helped me to go through with mine. I used to date a guy with a pierced nipple. I always like it and thought that's what I wanted. That was three years ago so I've definitely put some thought into this. It's the pain that puts me off. After reading a bunch and talking to a lot of people, I figured a navel pierce might not be as painful as a tit. I went to a local shop one Friday after working out. I ... read more

Stretching/Low Garth Experience

etching/Low Garth Experience This is my stretching/low garth piercing experience: A while back I wanted to change my small silver-ringed ear look. I currently had eight earings up to the top of my cartilage but I thought it needed something else. I slowly put more and more silver sleepers in my lobe piercing, I got up to an eight gauge so I went and bought a proper surgical steel ring. I left that in for quite a while. Later I felt that I wanted to go bigger so that I could have a visible flesh tunnel in place of the ... read more

Tragus + Navel

gus + Navel Tragus + Navel 24 Jul 97 Occasionally i enter a mode where my external image no longer fits my internal image, and i have to fix this. Almost 2 months back i got this itch, and started looking for a piercing that would put things back in balance (the itch is slightly different when i need a tattoo). I knew i wanted another navel, but this wasn't enough. I looked through the BME pictures and perused r.a.b until i stumbled on a set of piercings that wanted me: tragus, rook, daith. I got those sweaty palms, and ... read more

Nipple piercing leading to partial masectomy

ple piercing leading to partial masectomy [I've thought about whether I should include this experience or not, since it serves as great ammunition for the banning of piercing. However, I think it's more important that it's drilled into people's heads that piercing is very serious and things can go wrong no matter how careful you are. It may not be common, but it does happen... - ed.] Here goes... I had both my nipples pierced in July of last year to celebrate the event of the coming of my 25th birthday that November. A bit early but the piercings were ... read more

27 years of piercing

years of piercing As a way of introduction, let me say that I am 45 years old and have a dozen piercings, and 20 something tattoos. I began getting pierced in the 70's when it was still underground and started with my ear. Then, as most have already stated, became fascinated with National Geographic and Re-Search. In terms of getting pierced, I have been pierced by all the big names on the coasts and in the midwest. And if I have learned anything, it is that good preparation and knowledge are as important as finding a good piercer. One of ... read more

Lobe Stretching Experience

e Stretching Experience My name is Deborah and I got interested in body piercing/modification after my second year at Purdue University. My first piercing was my nose, which I no longer have (didn't really like the way it looked). I now have my nipples, tongue and navel pierced. After having those done I wanted to try lobe stretching. Most people (your average non-pierced people) thought my piercings were odd enough but the idea of stretching my lobes they could not comprehend (my parents, in particular, thought it was disgusting). But I digress. The point of this essay is to share ... read more

Permanent Nipple Rings

manent Nipple Rings After some convincing my wife recently agreed to having her nipples pierced. While she has long been a willing subject when it came to her ear piercings, she was resistant to the idea of having her nipples pierced again. She had allowed me to pierce her nipples a few years ago using Gauntlet jewelry, but soon thereafter lost the piercings when she removed the jewelry prior to going to her doctor for a yearly physical. On my birthday she had surprised me by offering to have her nipples pierced again. She also had two other requests for ... read more
