Cheek piercings; the good, the bad and the ugly.

My cheek piercing experience could easily be defined as that of a successful one. Knowing that their referred to as "the piercing that never heals" made me wary at first, but deeply satisfied now that (a year later) there as close to healed as I've seen possible. First things first with cheek piercings; be patient. For the first week or so, my cheeks and face were not very happy with me. I looked like a chipmunk. Being in that relative area and all, I knew they were going to swell, and swell a lot. But I didn't imagine it would ... read more

Home Monroe.

Even though I'm only fourteen years of age, fifteen in a week, i've been debating on getting either my lip or monroe pierced for just about a year now. I asked all my friends if I would look good with one of them. Of course they all said "don't do that to your pretty face," except one friend of mine, who's opinion meant most to me. He personally likes a Monroe piercing better, and since I liked either one I decided on a Monroe piercing. Now even though I knew neither one of my parents would bring me to get ... read more

What's better than a labret piercing? A vertical labret.

I believe the way I am is karma for my parents. My mom was the lead cheerleader in her high school, and my dad was the quarterback in his. I'm not like that at all. I've started dressing in all black in grade four, so you know in a few years I'd be asking for a piercing or two. When I was fifteen, I finally asked my mom for a piercing. I've never seen her so shocked in her life. "People are going to think you're dirty, and it's going to look dirty," was my mom's reply. "Never ask me ... read more

DIY I have it and now....i want more

Okay so how can I explain this without sounding like a little kid with a shiny needle? (XD) Well I had been wanting a lip piercing for about two years now. I didn't want it for anybody else I wanted it for me. my older sister started to bride me. Good grades + Good attitude= lip piercing? correct? WRONG! I had the good grades and everything and I was still miserably lied to. I'm babbling aren't I? don't worry I'm getting to the good stuff. It's a few months long experience so just sit in and listen to the beginning ... read more

Welcome to College

For the first time in my life I've been able to make all the decisions about my body modifications, thank you Canada. I'm originally from the US, so you have to be 18 to get piercings without parental consent, and 16 with consent. Let's just say that my parents aren't too keen on facial piercings. They allowed me to get my nose pierced, but that alone took days of begging to get. So, when I left for college in Canada, of course getting a piercing was near the top of my list of things to do. Now, my first week ... read more

changed my mind on the medusa!

The first time I saw a medusa was when I was 16 in high school. My older "emo" friend who had a ton of facial piercings. I hated the medusa, I felt like she was just going overboard with the metal. Lately I've been seeing a lot of images of girls on BME with medusas (or "philtrums" as they're called now) and started to really crave it. I have had snake bites before but took them out because I chipped my tooth pretty bad one day, and was scared for gum erosion. However, I didn't think a medusa could cause ... read more

Uneventful Cheek Piercing

I was in Salt Lake City after being away for the past 2 years in between Afghanistan and Kuwait. My father in law is sick with cancer and the mood in the house ranged from depression to laughs, to serious talks about life and living and happiness. My father in law went early morning for his dialysis and after he came home, went straight to sleep, as the process wears him out. Looking at him lying in his chair asleep, his skin, one a tanned golden now a dull yellow, I decided that I needed to do something to make ... read more

Ten Hour Lip Piercing

I am eighteen years old and I have been in love with body piercing for a long time. When I was younger, I got my ears pierced first just like almost eeeveryone else. My second piercing was on a trip with my mother and her friend and her friends daughter, where I was given a choice: second set of holes, or cartilage. I ended up choosing the latter. That was a few years ago. It was in my later pre-teen/teen years was when I really started to like piercings. I read about them online, started memorizing names and locations, and ... read more

Self done lip/labret piercing

So, yesterday I decided that I was going to put something in motion that I had wanted for a long time. For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with piercings and positive that I would soon get my own artistic body piercing. I had my ears done when I was a baby, so my first major move in the piercing area was to stretch them. I started doing that only a month ago, and I'm only at a 10 now. But anyways, back to the point. I had always wanted a septum piercing and a Monroe ... read more

My Philtrum / Medusa and lower lip.

Alright, so I had been wanting a new piercing for awhile, mostly because it had been around 8 months since my last one. I had spent quite a bit of time browsing the internet for something that jumped out at me, and I really liked the look of philtrum (medusa) piercings, and since I only seen one other person who had one at the time, it seemed like a suitable choice. I was set on it, I wanted one. So I started reading all the experiences on bme that I could about philtrum piercings, just to get a feel for ... read more
