On my 18th birthday I awoke to my best friend knocking on my door saying "Get ready we're getting pierced!" I showered, got dressed, connected to the internet and immediately started browsing BME. My friend had no idea what this site was, or what it did, and I simply informed her of the just of things and told her this is where I got the idea for my vertical lobe that I had gotten done two years earlier. We decided to get facial piercings, lip piercings to be exact. I was afraid of gum erosion and "destroying my teeth" so ...

Before I did my labret I hadn't really thought about facial piercing. There was a time when I was 13 when I thought getting my eyebrow pierced would be the greatest thing that happened since radio was free, but because I have sane parents, they didn't let me. Besides that, I had never really thought about any facial modification. Satisfied, I thought, since last year when I pierced my nipple, I didn't really think I'd be getting anything else done any time soon. Which brings me to the spontaneity of it. My girlfriend and I had been wandering about Toronto ...

For my sixteenth birthday in January of 2007, I decided to get myself a present I had been wanting for about 3 years a labret piercing. Looking back now I wouldn't have gone to the studio I ended up going to, although I didn't really have any problems. After taking care of it just how I had been told my labret healed up perfectly and I was very pleased with the results. About 5 weeks after getting the labret I was itching for more, and started browsing around BME for piercing ideas, none of the facial piercings really suited ...

Around the beginning of freshman year, I had started getting into body modification. It all started when I saw a couple "scenesters" with their lips pierced and I had said "I want that." Back then, I only wanted a piercing for superficial reasons. I didn't want it to "fit it" or to "be cool." But I didn't want it because it was a part of who I was. Nowadays, I consider body modification to be a part of who I am, and I believe that nothing can ever change that. I compare it to the nature vs. nurture philosophy, body ...

It had always been my plan to get my labret done again after I had to take it out because it was slightly off center when I did it myself. The surprise was that I found a ride and was able to get it done a lot sooner than I expected. I usually have to wait at least a month after figuring out what I want to be able to get a ride to get it. I won't go through with the waiting in the lobby because it' was the exact same as it was in my other two stories. ...

Long before the advent of "the scene," when the monroe piercing was still pretty uncommon I suddenly decided I needed one. I was nineteen and feeling rebellious, and my mostly liberal family that had allowed me to dye my hair whatever color I wished and dress however I liked expressly forbade facial piercings. The parlor I picked out on a whim as well. It was called Electric Circus or Masquerade or some such and was on the corner of 12 mile and Woodward if you know the area, I hear it isn't there anymore. I initially picked it because you ...

I started playing around with the idea of a lip piercing a little over a year ago. I had seen a few people with them and I liked the way they looked, but at the time I was 16 and could not legally have it done. Where I live you have to be at least eighteen unless you have parental consent. I also knew my parents would never go for the idea; it took me months just to talk my mom into letting me get my cartilage done. After a few months of slipping it into conversation to get them ...

I had my eyes on getting a monroe piercing for several months, unfortunately my parents weren't so keen on letting me get it, but eventually - they let me. I wasn't too sure if it would suit me or not, originally I wanted a labret piercing but I came to the conclusion that it probably wouldn't look good on me, even though i've not quite wiped this off my list of future piercings to come..., so, anyway, I decided to go for the monroe - it seemed like something a little different. I had my piercing done at HTC Body ...

It's weird, because I'd really never been a big fan of lip piercings. My cousin had three two rings and then a labaret in the centre, and I really, really didn't like them. They just seemed so big and heavy and ugly, and well, definitely not my thing. However, I saw a guy with one, much smaller, and it kind of made me curious. I already had a cartilage piercing, and an extra lobe piercing, both on my right ear, so I wasn't too concerned with it hurting very much. I floated the idea with a couple of my ...
