For my sixteenth birthday in January of 2007, I decided to get myself a present I had been wanting for about 3 years a labret piercing. Looking back now I wouldn't have gone to the studio I ended up going to, although I didn't really have any problems. After taking care of it just how I had been told my labret healed up perfectly and I was very pleased with the results. About 5 weeks after getting the labret I was itching for more, and started browsing around BME for piercing ideas, none of the facial piercings really suited ...

Around the beginning of freshman year, I had started getting into body modification. It all started when I saw a couple "scenesters" with their lips pierced and I had said "I want that." Back then, I only wanted a piercing for superficial reasons. I didn't want it to "fit it" or to "be cool." But I didn't want it because it was a part of who I was. Nowadays, I consider body modification to be a part of who I am, and I believe that nothing can ever change that. I compare it to the nature vs. nurture philosophy, body ...

It had always been my plan to get my labret done again after I had to take it out because it was slightly off center when I did it myself. The surprise was that I found a ride and was able to get it done a lot sooner than I expected. I usually have to wait at least a month after figuring out what I want to be able to get a ride to get it. I won't go through with the waiting in the lobby because it' was the exact same as it was in my other two stories. ...

Long before the advent of "the scene," when the monroe piercing was still pretty uncommon I suddenly decided I needed one. I was nineteen and feeling rebellious, and my mostly liberal family that had allowed me to dye my hair whatever color I wished and dress however I liked expressly forbade facial piercings. The parlor I picked out on a whim as well. It was called Electric Circus or Masquerade or some such and was on the corner of 12 mile and Woodward if you know the area, I hear it isn't there anymore. I initially picked it because you ...

On my 18th birthday I awoke to my best friend knocking on my door saying "Get ready we're getting pierced!" I showered, got dressed, connected to the internet and immediately started browsing BME. My friend had no idea what this site was, or what it did, and I simply informed her of the just of things and told her this is where I got the idea for my vertical lobe that I had gotten done two years earlier. We decided to get facial piercings, lip piercings to be exact. I was afraid of gum erosion and "destroying my teeth" so ...

It's weird, because I'd really never been a big fan of lip piercings. My cousin had three two rings and then a labaret in the centre, and I really, really didn't like them. They just seemed so big and heavy and ugly, and well, definitely not my thing. However, I saw a guy with one, much smaller, and it kind of made me curious. I already had a cartilage piercing, and an extra lobe piercing, both on my right ear, so I wasn't too concerned with it hurting very much. I floated the idea with a couple of my ...

Here lately, I've had quite the piercing addiction. I've always loved piercings, even back in my 'Piercing Pagoda' stages. My mom had my ears pierced when I was a baby. When I was about 14, I started going to the mall to get my ears 'gunned' with my parents. All together, I've had my ears 'gunned' 9 times. (3 lobe piercings on each ear, 2 cartilage on right ear and 1 on left ear) Those were all before I turned 16 and didn't know any better. When I was about 15 or 16, I got my belly button pierced and ...

So...I'd seen a picture of this piercing over christmas and as soon as I saw it I had to have it. I'm the kind of impulsive person that does something not necessarily without thinking but once i want it, I want it. I showed some pictures to my friends and to my parents, I don't think my dad would even notice and my mum didn't really like it but that was not even slightly going to stop me. I didn't want to get it done at home cos it's so much more of a big deal back home whereas at ...

I have always been interested in Tattoos and body art ever since I was a little kid. I used to get in to trouble as far back as kindergarten for writing and drawing on my self, and I have just been fascinated with them and the tuff pirate's and bikers from the movies I used to watch when I was a kid. I have been getting tattoos since I was 20 but did not have any piercings. Until in August on my 29th birthday that I decided to get my first piercing, I had been giving it a lot of ...

When I was young I remember seeing a gentleman with a labret piercing at some point in my youth. The details of situation, time, or place escape me now but I found it so fascinating that the simple piece of metal sticking out of his lip stuck with me for about ten years before coming to fruition in a shoddily done "center" lip piercing. I was fairly young and uneducated about piercings, but I still liked it and kept it for just over a year. At that point I chose to remove the poorly placed labret and give it plenty ...
