I had wanted to have my Septum pierced for quite some time before I actually went through with it. When I was 16 I rebelled and had my Monroe pierced, but my parents definitely weren't down with it, so it was removed only a day after I had gone and had it pierced. So, I obviously took the fact that my parents weren't too keen on facial piercings into consideration when I made this choice. The beauty of the Septum piercing is that it's easily concealed, that is probably one of my favorite aspects. I love the way that a ...

Since middle school when I first pierced something other than my ear lobes, I've been extremely interested in body modifications of all types. I was very excited when my mother, modified herself, said for my sweet sixteen I could get a nostril piercing. We made plans with Jim, the owner and piercer at Flesh Gear not far from my home, and went in on my birthday. On the way to the shop, my mom was grinning from ear to ear at the thought of her baby going through with a "life changing experience." I smiled back, not taking her completely ...

To preface: I have eight ear piercings (although I don't wear all of hem anymore), my tongue pierced, and had my nipples pierced up until my pregnancy in 2005/2006. I have four tattoos (also c/o of Native Rituals--Virus is an incredible artist!) So while I don't consider myself a seasoned vet of body mods, I do have at least a little experience to go on. Tonight I went to Native Rituals to get my nostril pierced after mulling it over for an embarrassingly long time. Honestly, I'd been contemplating this piercing off and on for over a year. I'd asked ...

Alright. So I'm currently seventeen. I've had an interest in piercings and tattoos for as long as I can remember. Right now I've got six piercings. I have my septum of course, and three 14 gauge rings on my cartilage. I've also got my ear lobes pierced. They were one gauged to 5/8, which I hope to have once again, only larger than before. Now for my adventure in DIY septum piercing. It wasn't until after my seventeenth birthday that I decided I'd give myself my own present. I wasn't old enough to get a piercing professionally, and my mother ...

I've grown up around people with body modifications, so it makes sense for me to be into them really. Both of my parents and my Grandfather on my Mum's side are heavily tattooed. In fact, one of my earliest memories is my Grandad drawing on my arm with felt-tip pens because I wanted to look like him. I was amazed that anyone could have these wonderful pictures on their skin forever. My Mum and Dad were both into piercings, and while my Mum only had her eyebrow and nose pierced, my Dad was quite heavily modded. I can't remember exactly ...

It was a cold and wintry day when I decided that I wanted to get my septum pierced. The snow was falling hard the day before, the roads were slick with ice, and I briefly thought about not going because of the condition of the roads but decided to do it anyway. I realized that if I did not do it then, I would never do it. I had been doing research on septum piercings for a while, and decided it was time. I knew what I was getting myself into, the risks, and everything else I would need to ...

Ever since I was little I wanted a nostril piercing. That tiny bit of jewelry resting on the nose was always the epitome of beauty to me. When I turned 16 I begged my mother to let me get it pierced. She gave me a long-winded speech about how I was too young to make a commitment on that level and said she'd be more than willing to take me to a piercer when I was 18 if I still wanted it. I reluctantly agreed to her offer and spent the next 2 years waiting patiently for it. The morning ...

I've never had a body piercing. I come from a conservative family, and don't have any outrageous friends to tell me about these things. But I've always loved them. Something always intrigued me. But yeah, I'm like everyone else. I used to hate septums. I thought they were ridiculous. But then as usual, something changed my mind. I watched Mel Gibson's Apocalypto (don't laugh). And I have Mayan blood (my mom is from Guatemala), and I thought that would be the perfect way to show my heritage. I had to give it TONS of thought. I decided to go through ...

So yeah, I think it was pretty exciting... In November of last year, I decided it was time I had the septum piercing I'd been going on about for a while, and I started thinking about where I could go and have it done. I'd gone to a couple of other piercing places to ask about it before, but the first place had no resident piercer at that time and it was just the tattooist doing the piercings, so I thought I would wait and try and find a place that had a dedicated piercing artist. I kind of forgot ...

Well, I've been wanting to get something done for a long time. I was too lazy to get my sparrows drafted so I started talking about getting my nose pierced to a few of my friends. I bailed out a few times, but I finally had to put my foot down, if I said I was going to do it, by god I was going do it! Not to mention I had also just turned 18 this year! So I knew that was something I still had to do and cross off the "I just turned of age" list. I ...
