Six months ago, I got my septum pierced for the second time. I had a very clear goal: I wanted it to be large enough to wear several tiny 16g rings in one hole. I thought 10g would be a nice goal, large enough for two rings, and figured my very experienced piercer would be able to do that easily. However, I was only able to have it pierced at 14g. I'd wanted my septum pierced for four years, but had never gotten the courage to get it done. A while back, either in bodymods.livejournal.com or stretched.livejournal.com, someone linked an amazing septum plug. I saw it, & I had to have it. Previously I'd never been interested in a septum piercing, but I suddenly fell in love with the idea of a plug that allowed me to see through my own nose. The last twice I have had my septum pierced, they have failed. The first through a bad piercer and the second because I got a rather bad cold while it was still in the early stages of healing. Let me start off by saying that up until recently, I have always hated septum piercings. I thought they were ugly, and I couldn't fathom why people would want to look like bulls. That was always the one piercing I'd NEVER get. But then they started to grow on me.
