Piercings and stress.

6 days ago I got two off-centre tongue piercings (venoms). They were healing well, and my speech was pretty much back to normal. Eating was relatively pain-free, albeit a bit awkward. Last night I was meeting my parents for dinner in a local restaurant. Now, I don't have many piercings. I had 13 last night: just my lobes, a daith, my navel and venoms. Dinner started off well, but my parents soon noticed my venoms. Pretty soon I was getting grief about them, which soon spread to the rest of my piercings. Then it went on to my attittude on ... read more

A wild tribal tongue piercing appears...

This is the lovely tale of how and why I decided to stick a "tribal hole" in my tongue... I was eighteen and had been into piercings since a young age. Though I came from a very traditional Middle Eastern family my mother allowed me to get my second ear piercings and at seventeen I had acquired an industrial piercing and a nose piercing. I was in love with my industrial, it looked great and was a fun piercing to have in general. My nose was a different story. I loved the idea of a nose piercing. My mom had ... read more

smiley, frowny and tongue web piercing

The first time I saw a smiley piercing was on a girl at the pub I had just started working at. My initial reaction was to wonder who on earth would want one of those? The more I thought about it though, the more I realised just how beautiful it was, and so personal too! No one need know it was there if you don't want them too. So I headed on over to bme and looked at some of the uploaded photos. I gradually realised that this would be my next piercing. After reading up on the risks though, ... read more

Adventure for Venoms

Ever since I was 13 years old I had always wanted my tongue pierced. My mum was completely against it (until I turned 18,) so she let me get anything else. I got my belly button and my lip done (twice,) to suppress the need. I could not help but become obsessed with the idea, though it dimmed over time seeing how common it was and it was just another piercing just like belly buttons. My brother's former girlfriend ended up getting venoms, the only other person I've ever seen with them; then that was IT, I knew that was ... read more

4G Scalpelled Tongue

It took me quite a while to build up the courage to get my tongue scalpel pierced. The thought of having someone push a scalpel through my tongue really unnerved me, even though I've had a lot of other piercing experiences this one was very different for me. Finding a reputable practitioner was never a question for me. I'd been going to the same piercer (Buju - currently working out of 'Alternative Ink' Hollywood, N.Ireland) for a long while, and fully trusted him and his work. Chatting with Buju about the procedure beforehand really put me at ease. He told ... read more

Sub-Lingual Fun

I hadn’t really thought about piercing anything other than my ears. Not by ignorance of all the cool piercings out there; rather that I didn’t feel that anything else would suit me. I like the cartilage piercings and have a reasonably elaborate plan for my ears, which I am slowly realising one piercing at a time. I am very measured and deliberate with my piercings; considering each one carefully for quite some time before committing. This means I only get about one a year; which frustrates my piercer-friend greatly. Almost every time we meet up he asks when he’ll be ... read more

My lovely venoms

Ever since seeing a photo of a girl with a venoms on bme, I wanted them. I spent hours looking at photos and reading about them, before finally contacting a piercing studio I had been to many times before in my hometown to see how much they would charge. However, the response I got back was that they wouldn't perform this piercing because it is too risky! So, I had to look around Nottingham, the city I now live in, and see where I would trust to pierce me. There were quite a few piercing studios that I heard good ... read more

Tongue web fairy tale (don't be fooled by the title)

Fairy tale? I call it a fairy tale because like every Cinderella story, there are the bad moments and the bad guys followed by a perfect ending. This is exactly what happened to my tongue web getting pierced! It was a long time ago (in 2006), I wanted to get pierced and back then I was only 16 years old and I needed my parents’ approval... Or did I? Fortunately for me, I was in a country where no laws are obeyed (Lebanon). So I went to one of the many tattoo / piercing shops that allowed people at any ... read more

More than expected

Ever since I started getting piercings other than my earlobes, I had wanted to get my tongue pierced. I still don't know why, it was just a piercing I had always wanted. Living at home with my parents, they kept telling me that I wasn't allowed, but I knew once I turned 18 I was going to get it done. Finally, a couple months before I turned 19, I decided to get it done. It was the day I finished my last exam of my first year of university, and I wanted to reward myself. So with a couple of ... read more
