I've got a theory that watching films in which body mods are displayed encourages me to get them. One of the reasons that 300 is one of my favourite films is because of the piercings that Xerxes, his subjects and his harem prominently display throughout the movie. Ever since I got my second holes in my ears, I had really wanted my cartilage done too. As cliched as this sounds, piercings (as I'm sure tattoos) are really addictive. I’ve had 2 sets of lobe piercings since I was 5 years old and decided in late 2009 to start stretching my first set of piercings. Due to my personal, preferred aesthetics, I decided to remove my second lobe piercings. As I have my right tragus pierced, I felt like I wanted to balance out my ear piercings by getting another one in my left ear. Let me just start off by saying that you should not pierce yourself if you don't have to. A lot can go wrong and professionals really know what they're doing. That being said, do not go out and get pierced anywhere that uses guns. I have been horrified to see my friends with new piercings, only to find out that they got it done with a gun. I’ll never forget when I first became interested in lobe stretching: I was sitting at my Great Grandma’s house in Michigan and she was watching some sort of documentary (I couldn’t have been more than 8 years old.)
