I had my helix pierced around two months ago, and I guess it was almost predetermined by my previous tragus piercing. While in most cases the act, ritual, process, whatever you want to call it, of undergoing the piercing has been symbolic (the pain of change, control over my own physicality, expressing/releasing/manifesting a moment of or period of emotional pain, etc) the placement has always been purely asthetic and serves as nothing more or less than a function of how I want myself to look in the long run. Being a male I have never wanted symmetry of the piercings ...

In the months following my tragus piercing, I noticed that it was much more widespread (movie stars, highschool students, the waiter at Applebee's) than when I'd originally got the idea in my head 2 or 3 years ago, and sought out something at least somewhat more unique. Quickly my eyes were drawn to the rook piercing and over the following weeks I began reading people's experiences with this area. Most stories fell into 3 categories; minimal to moderate pain; hurts pretty damn bad; and absolutely excruciating with some stating it felt worse than having their nipples done. Furthermore, many of those in ...

I never saw the appeal about industrials when everyone around me started getting one - it looked bulky and crude to me, but when my right ear started to look far too empty with its standard lobes, suddenly the idea started to spark my interest and with some massive browsing around, looking at industrial bars and photos of people with healed industrial projects I saw the beauty in it. How hipster of me. So I gave myself a few weeks to lose interest in the idea because that's how I roll - and when I didn't, I decided to order ...

This all started way back in 2010 when I discovered that I had far too much scar tissue to stretch my ears properly, from years of mistreating them. It took me a while but I found a gentleman who was apparently proficient in ear lobe scalpelling; my first scalpelling experience is covered in in this experience from 2011. After that I really should have known something was wrong because we both ended up with acrylic in our freshly cut lobes. After a few months being at 10mm, I decided that I wanted to be bigger and consulted Dan again on possibly ...

Out of the 4 lobe piercings I have, I have successfully stretched three of them multiple times. The largest is now 8g and began in a piercing that I've had for about 17 years now. My mother took me to the mall when I was about 10 and I had my left lobe pierced with a gun. Although there were never any major complications it remained a nusiance for the 2ish years that I wore it. Knowing what I know now I'm not surprised. Being young my mom did most of the aftercare for me including twisting the stud around ...

Roughly three months ago I decided to finally get my tragus on my left ear pierced. I first noticed the piercing years ago at bars and clubs, mostly on girls, and I found it very attractive but always regarded it as more of a feminine look. At the time I wasn't much into piercings; I'd had my left lobe done when I was around 9 or 10 at the mall but after about a year of my mom treating it all the wrong ways (getting it done with a gun, using conventional jewelry, cleaning with alcohol, etc) I got tired ...

Friday, July 16th, 2012, I went to All In Ink in SoCal to get a new piercing. I originally wanted a forward helix and a tragus piercing on my right ear, but my ears are too small for the forward helix piercing apparently, so I just went with the tragus. This was my first non-lobe ear piercing, but I've been researching piercings and body mods for years, so I wasn't really that nervous. I think that part of the reason I wasn't nervous is that, a few years back, I had a surface piercing on my thigh for about six ...

After going to the local piercing studio to get the jewelry for my tragus piercings shortened and replaced, I immediately got the itch to get more ear piercings after having not had any piercings in nearly a year. I have several body piercings, but my ears are relatively bare, and that needed to be fixed. After some research and thought, I decided to get an inner conch piercing on my left ear. I like the way that inner conch piercings look because they are pretty subtle and tucked away, but you can also have it be really prominent by changing ...

After a few months of not getting any piercings and having a piercing itch, I decided that for my 21st birthday that I wanted to get tragus piercings done on both ears. I was wary about getting them done originally because my parents aren’t exactly supportive of my piercing habit. So it took me some courage to ask my mother if she would be okay with me having these piercings as I knew there was no way that I would be able to hide them. At the time, she was unaware of all of my piercings with the exception of ...

It’s hard for me to be away from my favorite piercing studio, Iris Piercing in Salt Lake City, and it is in fact a little dangerous for me. This is because if I go into the studio after not having had a piercing in awhile, I get an insatiable itch to get new piercings that doesn’t go away until I get them. So I decided to go ahead and get my rook pierced in my right ear after a few days of intense research and picture surfing. Usually once I want a piercing, it’s hard to get me out of ...
