I Said I'd Never get an Industrial.....Now I'm in Love

My husband asked what I wanted for my 23rd birthday and I quickly answered, "a new piercing". It had been a while and I was getting that familiar itch. I found and fell in love with the transverse lobe piercings, but alas it was not to be. To get the transverse lobes, I would have to give up my traditional lobe piercings and I was not ready to part with them. So my hunt for something else began. I wanted something not everyone has like rook or a helix. I already have my left tragus so that was out. I ... read more

Helix? I only wanted my nose pierced!

Hi All ~ In June 2008 I decided that I had to get my nose pierced. That was the only piercing I wanted to get so once it was done I would be happy. Right. Well I went and got my nose pierced by Stephanie at Sacred Heart Tattoo and Piercing in Vancouver, BC, and I absolutely love it. You can read about that story in BME under the heading Fear into Joy – a piercing experience, June 2008 section. Suffice it to say that it was a very good experience. She is amazing. The research I had done on ... read more

I have always felt very strongly about being my own person, and doing whatever that entails in my mind. Moving from a small town to Toronto in order to go to art school not only helped me grow as a person, but also feel more comfortable in my growths- until I could not imagine being anything else than what I am today. This is, in my mind, the biggest highlight for any serious person getting any sort of body modification: you just know, innately, that this is the right thing to do, and you can't imagine not doing it. For ... read more

Why not to be tempted by cheap piercers

Okay, so I've never, ever, EVER considered EVER going to a mall piercer before. I KNOW it's stupid, and I KNOW that it probably won't end well... however, KNOWING all of this, I still made the stupid and went and got punctured at Cosmetics Plus. Please don't judge, I'm adding this as an account of a piercing gone wrong. I have five piercings - used to be six, but I retired my labret - and all of them were done in a highly professional studio here in Cairns. I LOVE Cairns Tattoo and Body Piercing. They know their stuff, truly. ... read more

freshly stretched goodness

Before I begin, here is a little about myself. My name is Kaitlin and I am sixteen. My lobes are at 5/8g and I still have not yet completed all the body modifications I desire. I plan on stretching up to 1 inch and beyond, and piercing my own septum. I come from a town full of walking cliches, awful trends and all around normality. Those circumstances do not really influence most people to consider body modification. In my case, I hate the idea of conformity. I am completely fascinated with body modification, but it was not always like that. ... read more

The Kindness of Strangers

There is no better body mod than that which signifies an event, experience, or the beginning and/or end of one of life's chapters. Whether it's a vertical clitoral hood piercing to assert independence after an abusive relationship, a tattoo because you've finally moved out of home or even just a standard lobe piercing to celebrate the end of high school, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that this body mod provides a permanent reminder, whether explicitly or implicitly, that you were there, that you did this, that this happened to you. It was with this train of thought that ... read more

Industrial, Experience not to be forgotten

When I first decided to get my industrial I had a lot of negative opinions from friends. The reason I decided was because I saw this chick with the most awesome industrial at the smashing pumpkins concert. One of my friends had gotten hers done at high school, but I was a bit put off when a few weeks later hers swelled up and it looked like her ear was eating her piercing, then a few months later she ripped it out so I kind of didn't look fondly on them after that. Two weeks after I went to the ... read more

Piercing and Stretching Decision and Experience

I have been skulking around BME for years now and have finally decided to add my story to "our" collection. The next decision was which experience should I write about? I decided to write about the most recent ... the piercing and subsequent stretching of my ear lobes. Stretched lobes have kept me fascinated for years! Just the look could be enough to keep me interested, but the additional process and (constant) care while stretching added a kind of weight to the idea. My other piercings and my tattoos are in locations where they are easily covered, and once they ... read more

Conch piercing, the start of an addiction...

Ok so I've been interested in getting pierced since I was about 15 but never really had the balls to get one, mainly I suppose because my circle of friends have never really been into it, stupid reason I know. Anyway fast forward to this summer that I spent working in Ibiza where attitudes to piercings are very different, seems everyone as at least something pierced! So one day, with nothing much else to do I decided it was time to get my first piercing. So I grab a couple of my friends and head down to Naxa one of ... read more

My GREAT conch-to-conch vertical industrial experiance.

[NOTE: I actually got this piercing exactly two weeks ago; there just wasn't an option for that. So I picked one week ago. Sorry.] The first time I saw my cousin's vertical industrial piercing, I knew I had to have one. I brought a friend of mine to Twisted Images to check the price on a tattoo she wanted to get because it's got the reputation for being the best tattoo/piercing shop in town. While we were waiting, I got to talking to Natalie, one of the piercers, because she recognized me from a wedding we both happened to be ... read more
