Playing with Fire

By Michelle Delio One second of exposure to searing hot metal, perhaps a sizzling sound and the thinnest wisp of smoke, and the first strike is done. It's the beginning of a piece of art that will be formed from flames and scars. Branding isn't new. In western cultures it was normally used as a means of marking criminals and slaves. The French branded a "Fleur de Lis" into the shoulder of a criminal, a mark meant to turn the bearer into an outcast from civilized culture forever. But then they got a little carried away and started branding Protestants ... read more

My Christmas Present

Christmas Present My Christmas Present After I broke up with a girl who ended up stealing around $1000 from me, I decided to get my ear pierced. For me, the best form of revenge is to have a fabulous life and an ear ring was the subtle symbol that I was looking for to let her know that I had moved on. Besides, I thought that they were reasonably cool and that it would look good on me. So anyway, no big deal, I went and got my left ear pierced in March 1996. Soon after that I got access ... read more

Handweb experience

erience "justin's introduction to piercing" - or - "hey buddy, hurt me" i had been thinking about getting my hand pierced for a long time. for some reason, the thought of it just appealed to me. i'd never been too terribly attracted to piercing before, not even my ears. but just the thought of having a ring through my handwebbing.. i went and talked to the piercer about two weeks prior to getting it done. i told him i had been thinking about it, and wanted more details. he told me that they always discouraged hand piercings, because of the ... read more

The Shifting Urban Body: In the Culture of Recognition

Shifting Urban Body: In the Culture of Recognition The Shifting Urban Body: In the Culture of Recognition. Copyright &copy 1995 Mike McCabe On their voyages across the surface of the earth, 15th and 16th century maritime explorers referred to the unknown regions of the globe as Terra-Incognita or uncharted territory. They roamed the surface of the world blindly, unaware of the significance of its contour. Without the luxury of a map, early explorers had no meaningful framework that could orient them in their travels, there was no top or bottom to anything. There was nothing but the stars to help ... read more

Bad piercing experience...

piercing experience... Bad piercing experience... I had a bad piercing experience. I was at a tent during a bazar (spelling?), and they were offering $25.00 nipple piercings. I thought, what the hell and decided to bite the bullet and take it. I walked into the back of the tent with the piercing "specialist" (I use the term lightly) and was shown a variety of rings that I could choose from. I chose a small gauge silver wire with a small bead on it. I thought, "Hey, if I don't like it, I can take it out." The piercing itself was ... read more

Anti-Tragus

i-Tragus Friday, April 11 was a great day in the history of what is turning out to be Bobby's ear project. Granted, there are only two pieces of jewelry, (industrial with a 14 gauge 1-3/8 inch SS barbell, and my new anti-tragus with a 7/16 inch 14 gauge Niobium CBR) but I've got the itch, and so it seems that I'm just getting started. Anyway, I was looking for pictures for a while before hand of anti-tragus piercings with little luck, and of course, after I finally head down to Perforations and did it, BME is updated that very same ... read more

Navel @ Gauntlet

el @ Gauntlet March 20 was the day! After years of exploring body modification and having read the ReSearch book about a hundred times, I finally got the courage to get my first piercing. I must say, that ever since my childhood I fancied to get an earring, but never went for it due to social pressures. So, this day really was something I have worked on for a long time. It was difficult for my to choose what kind of piercing should be the first. I knew, that once I get over it and get the first one, I ... read more

Nipple Piercing Experience

cing Experience Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 20:29:45 -0700 From: RM Nipple Piercing Experience I'd never much been into bm's. In fact, I never even really thought about them. To go further and be ruthlessly honest, when I did consider them, I always wondered why anyone would want to hack around with their body like that. It's amazing how your ideas can change. Before I begin, let's set the scene. I'm gay. Needless to say, I have a load of gay friends. Most of the gays I know are pretty adventurous people in some respects - let's face it, we ... read more

Two Single Moms' Piercings

Single Moms' Piercings Our story doesn't start out with any flair and fauna like some do, We are just two single moms who thought we would do something a little "different" for a change. For a few months Lori and I had discussed getting various piercings, which we would like best, and where we would like it the best. I decided on getting my left nipple pierced and Lori on getting her belly button pierced. We also were considering getting tattoos to compliment our piercings. So upon the final decision of where we would get our piercings, we needed to ... read more
