Conch, Tragus, and Anti-tragus Piercing

ch, Tragus, and Anti-tragus Piercing Last week (Feb 25) I got my helix pierced (story already on BME). Piece of cake, a bit tricky to clean so got a bit infected but this is subsiding now. A couple of days later I got a conch piercing by Phil again. Although the helix pierce was easy and relatively pain-free I had nerves beforehand. Not this time! I went in and they were pretty quiet so I didn't have to wait at all for this one, just five minutes while he got prepared. Hurt a bit, but no real problem and it ... read more

Various motivations for lip sewing:

>Various motivations for lip sewing: Religious/spiritual sacrifice/devotion primarily practiced among ascetic holy men in India (Sadhus) and in this case the sutures are relatively permanent (i.e. if the sutures rot over time, they may be replaced). Confrontational Performance (i.e. see Artaud's essay on the subject or read Hakim Bey's Poetic Terrorism) For example, the lip sewing that Daemon did on Mikey in 1993 was a social commentary on the issue of censorship (specifically: the police raid and confiscation of art and subsequent charge of pornography of the artist) and how we are being silenced by the policies of our right-wing ... read more

Yet another nipple piercing experience.

another nipple piercing experience. Yet another nipple piercing experience. It seems that I have always been fascinated by body art. When I was a small child in the 60's, I loved tattoos. I would squeal with delight whenever I found temporary tattoos in my box of Cracker Jack. I harassed my mother until she broke down and took the time to apply it for me. (Some of you may be too young to remember those tattoos; all that was needed to transfer them to the skin was a bit of water (or spit, if you were desperate.) It seemed like ... read more

Ear Stretching Experience

Stretching Experience My stretching experience, thus far. I first got interested in stretching my ear lobe after seeing a friend of mine with a 2-gauge acrylic plug in his ear. I had previously seen stretchings of an inch or so, and Masaii tribal stretchings of more than 3 inches, and thought that they were sort of tasteless, but when I saw my friend, I was immediatly enthralled. My only hesitation was, "what will it look like when I'm 50 years old and no longer have anything in the hole?" and "will I be able to get jobs with a half-inch ... read more

A Brief Non-Linear Piercing History

rief Non-Linear Piercing History A Brief Non-Linear Piercing History The purpose of this list is to dispel certain popular myths and misinformation circulated about different body piercings and to clarify terms wherever possible. My list focuses on piercings that appear in the ethnographic or historical literature. Recent piercings like the Madison, Christina, Cleopatra, Madonna, Nasion and others have not been included. Please note that many of the references supplied by "the father of modern piercing" Doug Malloy (a.k.a. Richard Symington) cannot be verified and should be considered folklore. If you know of any historical or ethnographic references that are not ... read more

African-American nipple history

ican-American nipple history Well... it's been two weeks since getting my nipples stretched I must say-- it's fabulous. Let me relate my own personal history of body modification and it would put things into perspective.. I'm a 32 year old professional black male who has actually never felt that great about my body.... I'm 5'8, 180, and in good shape but i've always had issues with the way I look. I will say however, that modifying my body has given me a new sense of confidence. I wanted to submit something here because it's rare to hear from African Americans ... read more

Cutting at Modern American BodyArts

I have something to share with you, many people wonder why I do certain things.... It ranges everywhere from why did I get a tattoo, what would make me want to pierce my dick, and who in the world would let someone cut into them with a scalpel.... well I first want to clarify the most recent question I was asked.... "It's bad enough that you do all this sick shit to yourself... but why the hell did you write about it and let everyone in the world know about it?" I pondered that one for a minute... kind of ... read more

Nipple piercing by Raelyn Gallina

ple piercing by Raelyn Gallina Newsgroups: rec.arts.bodyart Subject: I got my nipple pierced last Sunday! Date: 24 Nov 1996 04:44:00 GMT Hello from a long time lurker, As the subject line mentions, I got my nipple pierced! Thanks to all of you who have posted information on the subject, especially those who joined the barbell/ring debate. I decided to go with a straight barbell (12 ga, sss, 3/4" long.) My nipple, pre-pierce and "at rest" measured 5/16" and I appreciated the extra room the first few days post pierce because my nip was running at about 11/16" and semi-erect. Today, ... read more

A note from Patrick regarding the chest piercings

Patrick regarding the chest piercings "Another couple of chest bars, what I call the - Mega Peck - piercings." "The horizontal bars are made of 4mm thick PTFE (polytetrafluroethalene), with 316 drilled and tapped balls. The threads on the balls cut their own threads, and the bars are easily shortened/trimmed with a scalpel, or a pair of toenail clippers. The Mega Peck's are normally done at 4mm X 4.5 inches. I anaethatise the entrance and exit marks only, provided the needles and insertion pins go under the skin there is no real discomfort." "I have discontinued doing the vertical bars ... read more
