Playing with Fire

By Michelle Delio One second of exposure to searing hot metal, perhaps a sizzling sound and the thinnest wisp of smoke, and the first strike is done. It's the beginning of a piece of art that will be formed from flames and scars. Branding isn't new. In western cultures it was normally used as a means of marking criminals and slaves. The French branded a "Fleur de Lis" into the shoulder of a criminal, a mark meant to turn the bearer into an outcast from civilized culture forever. But then they got a little carried away and started branding Protestants ... read more

Nipple Piercing at Medusa's Circle

cing at Medusa's Circle Nipple Piercing at Medusa's Circle (Please pardon the informality. I was debating whether to be more formal or write like I usually do in newsgroups/email. Felt easier writing as I usually do for this medium :). The described procedure might be out of order - I'm writing it as thoughs occur to me.) Welp, finally went and did it. Got my nipple pierced yesterday (Apr 20). The piercer was Pier Zambrano at Medusa's Circle; 3268 N Clark, Chicago, IL; 312-935-5950. He had done 2 of my earlobe pierces and I highly recommend him. Great bedside manner! ... read more

Cartilage Piercing Experience

tilage Piercing Experience Cartilage Piercing Experience Part 1 After reading BME and BME/Extreme for quite some time now and enjoying them so much, I thought I'd contribute what some may think is a routine experience. To me it wasn't. It is now almost 5 months after my first tatoo, my first venture into body mods besides the common double pierced lobes. My daughter and I both decided we wanted a cartilage pierce and would do it together, sort of as a "mother-daughter thing". She is 15 and is confined to a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy so I often check ... read more

Navel @ Gauntlet

el @ Gauntlet March 20 was the day! After years of exploring body modification and having read the ReSearch book about a hundred times, I finally got the courage to get my first piercing. I must say, that ever since my childhood I fancied to get an earring, but never went for it due to social pressures. So, this day really was something I have worked on for a long time. It was difficult for my to choose what kind of piercing should be the first. I knew, that once I get over it and get the first one, I ... read more

Nipple @ Precision

ple @ Precision Nipple piercing story About 4 months ago I decided to get my nipples pierced, I had been thinking about it for quite a while beforehand and decided I wanted to get it done. In the months preceding, I had acquired a taste for nipple stimulation and heard that piercing your nipples would increase their sensitivity. I have been into S&M four a little over a year now and am still experimenting with new things (i.e. body Piercing). My girlfriend seemed to like the idea so I decided to go ahead with it. I asked around about piercing ... read more

Mr. Normal Suburbia

Normal Suburbia My experience into piercing, beyond the average ear gun procedures, is pretty limited. I had my left ear done twice about two years ago. I thought two holes in my ear was pretty cool and about as far as "Mr. Normal Suburbia" would go, especially at 40 plus. But for some reason I was always looking for a heavier, more substantial look. And those dainty little earrings sold in department and jewelry stores just didn't do it. Well after many of those thicker "looking" earrings I decided to call the local piercing store. He explained to me that ... read more

My First Mhendi

First Mhendi My First Mhendi So I am now typing with my left hand delightfully decorated a yummy shade of sienna. It looks so pretty I just keep staring at it... it's almost hypnotic! I had gone to 3 Indian stores Thursday but wanted to go to the one a couple of minutes away from my home... so did that this morning. I found the most gentle woman working there... one who took over an hour showing me around the small store, describing the different foods and such... and then, sharing her knowledge of mhendi with me. Her daughter, who ... read more

My nipple stretching experience

le>My nipple stretching experience I originally had my nipple pierced in November of 1996. It was a very intense experience - as painful as my reading other peoples' accounts on BME had led me to believe. But the pain was only momentary and it settled to a dull aching which lasted for a few hours. I was very happy with this new addition to my body - the look of a piece of metal going through my left nipple was (and still is) an amazing sight and one I don't believe I will ever tire of looking at. But one ... read more

MY LIP EXPERIENCE

LIP EXPERIENCE MY LIP EXPERIENCE BY SKOTT The last day of August, 1997; I, my parents, my best friend, and my brother all went down to Philly to go to Warrior on South Street. I decided to go to Warrior because it was recommended to me by many people I had talked to, "Warrior's the cleanest in the area" they said, "Warrior does a good job" they said, "Warrior's the best place around" they said. They were wrong. When I arrived, there was almost no wait. I went right up and taled to the piercer on duty at the time ... read more

ABOUT BRANDING

I'd like to share my views and experience regarding branding. I've been involved in this form of BodyArt for the past three years and have performed over thirty brands totaling over two hundred strikes. Training as a piercer gave me a solid grasp of sterile technique and thousands of piercings taught me how to calm apprehensive clients. A little more research into burn first aid firmed up my aftercare approach. Anybody seriously considering piercing, tattooing, cutting or branding another humans flesh, in the name of art, should be prepared to study and practice. I'd like to thank Raelyn Gallina, Lance ... read more
