It all stems from big ears...

don't suppose I could match your stories of people who cut off their balls, nor would I try, though I can see that there could be circumstances where people would want to do that. My experiences are rather different, however. First the visible stuff (that I let everyone see) Since I was a kid I have been fixated on my ears. First because they are really big, and second because they stick out quite a lot. Actually although kids would tease me over this, I quite like them, and just before I went to sleep at night I would pull ... read more

Labret @ Atomic Garden

Anxious. That would be the feeling. As my mom dropped my brother, Ethan, and I (Damon Kalar, a 19-year-old from Minnesota) off on University Way, or "The Ave," I could feeling my limbs shaking in anxiousness. After two and a half hours of looking for a piercing place, we decided to look in the phone book. Atomic Garden on University Way. That'll do. As we found it, and went upstairs, second-thoughts and nerves started to set in. "Hey Eeeth, let's go get some coffee." After coffee, and a smoke I decided to go in. My piercer, Gregory LaRouxe, was very ... read more

10ga to 2ga Ear Piercing

developed the habit a few years ago of getting pierced every time I went abroad to somewhere interesting. So while in San Francisco last summer (96) I decided it was time to get piercings that would actually be visible in everyday life. So I decided to take the plunge and start on stretching my lobes, something I'd wanted to do for ages. The problem was that I had practically no earlobes, my ears just continued around from the end of the cartilage to the neck - leaving only a few mm between the edge of my ear and the inter-tragal ... read more

How do you pick your nose? (stretching my septum)

Long before I knew anything about body piercing, I always said that if I were to get anything other than my ears pierced, I would get a "bull ring." When I began to learn more about such things, I decided that I was going to do it. About two and a half years ago, I got my first non-ear pierce, my septum. I got it pierced with a 14ga 1/2" SSS circular barbell. As I learned more and more, I discovered stretching. I never thought that I would want to do it myself, but I liked the look of large ... read more

Body Adornment

Body adornment and decoration is a cultural universal. All cultures everywhere have attempted to change their body in an attempt to fulfill their cultural construct of beauty, religious and or social obligations. There are many other reasons, too numerous to list. Body adornment and modification is a very broad subject, ranging from ceremonial body paint to surgical breast implants. The focus of this discussion will be body piercing, and special attention will be paid to the cultural effects and affects of piercing. Though now body piercing and other modifications are widely accepted and regarded as a fad, I believe there ... read more

Nipple Repiercing Experince

Back in June, I had both of my nipples pierced at 14 gauge, 1/2 inch circular barbells. Less than a week later, I went to jail, had to take them out, and couldn't get the left one back in. I've been lopsided since then. Yesterday -- maybe since it was because it was my birfday, maybe because I was feeling lonley, who knows -- I went to Perforations. Part of me wanted to get repierced, part of me just wanted to stretch the left one to 12 gauge. After a lot of waivering and a few cigarettes, I decided to ... read more

First Tattoo Experience:)

ot my first tattoo when I was 18. I had wanted one for several years..but wanted to wait till I could do it legally, and also my parent's are very much against tattoos so I could not get consent from them. I figured waiting awhile wouldn't hurt me..other than the fact I was dying to get the tattoo! Well my 18th birthday came and went and I did not have my tattoo. I simply did not have a good oportunity to get it. I live in South Carolina and tattooing is not legal so I couldn't just drive down the ... read more

Better Late Than Never

suspect that many readers of this site and of rec.arts.bodyart either are or have been a college student. I am certainly no exception. Until I went to university, my experience of tattoos and piercing had been limited to ex-navy guys with blurry anchors on their forearm and studs in their ears. I had no wish to look like an assistant at a 3-year olds finger painting lesson and by the late 80s, ear studs on guys were hardly the mark of a rebel. (Being a rebel is especially difficult with understanding parents) When I started University, I simultaneously discovered both ... read more

EDGE PLAY

k was with me last night and I was able to attend the cutting/scarring demonstration that Keith Alexander presented as part of "Edge Play", this week's program at the GMSMA (Gay Male S/M Activists) here in beautiful downtown New York City. Keith began with a concise and informative 15-minute talk, covering the safety measures (copious), legality (barely), and aesthetics of cutting. Anyone who's met Keith in person will be happy to know that he's the same confident and expert self when talking to a group as he is one-on-one. He took a few quick questions from the audience before introducing ... read more

Deep Muscle Arm Piercing

ello, my name is David and I live in Sweden. If you don't know anything about Sweden then all you need to know it that it is a small beautiful and cold country. Well, the thing I want to tell you (and the members of BME) is what happend to me two years ago. I went out for a walk in one of Stockholms many nice parks where I got mugged. I didn't't have any money so probably this robber got pissed of and as he left he shot me in the back. Or not exactly in the back but ... read more
