I call it...Mystery Piercing!

About a month ago my dorm mate and I realized that very familiar sensation told us that we needed a new piercing. The last piercings I had gotten were my nape (R.I.P!) and my tragus on my right ear back in late March. Over six months later I knew I could handle another piercing, but what was now the question! After some research here on BME I fell in love with the daith. Oddly enough, Mena (my mate) had tried to convince me to get a daith back in July when I went to get my nape adjusted. The urge ... read more

On being the piercee AND the piercer

Note to readers: Although I did many of my own piercings, self piercing must be done with EXTREME CAUTION. Screwing up your own piercings is not fun. Also, I may have pierced my friend's nipples at home, but this is not something you should attempt unless you have had experience. I had watched many nipple piercings and had permission from the piercer I apprentice under to try a nipple piercing. I also had my notes from observing in the shop. I do recognize that it might not have been wise to pierce without supervision. I've been piercing various parts of ... read more

Finally Have an Eyebrow Piercing

First of all I would just like to say, I have wanted piercings since I was little because I just thought they looked cool. Practically every night I dreamt about tattoos and piercings, always believing I would never get them. My family is very, very strict. They aren't particularly religious, just dead set against piercings. I couldn't even mention liking piercings. Whenever my parents saw people with them, they just ranted about how bad they were. I even hated the fact that four-year-old children could get piercings and I was sixteen and couldn't! I got my tragus pierced spur-of-the-moment about ... read more

Two years in the planning, over in twenty minutes.

Ever since I can remember, I've been fascinated with tattoos. I've wanted one since before I started high school, but knew it was a no go, at least until I turned eighteen. My father died when I was eight months old. Therefore I have no memories of him. I do, however, have several items of his clothing and people have told me things about him, et cetera. He used to sing the song Forever Young by Bob Dylan to me, when getting me to sleep or whilst bathing me. My grandparents had the lyrics printed and framed for a gift ... read more

navel ring infection

I had been interested in getting a tattoo but after reading and researching about it a lot, I decided I wanted to have an experience getting pierced first. I had just lost 30 pounds so I decided to reward myself with a navel piercing. My parents are also Mormon and would be very upset if I had a piercing even though I was 18. I planned it for a long time but actually going to get it done was slightly impulsive. My friends wanted to ditch the last day of high school and I suggested we just go to a ... read more

Growing and shrinking, 12mm

I first decided to stretch my ear in March 2008. It was the craze at school, with everybody shoving tapers haphazardly into their ear lobes, squealing with pain, and waiting meagre days before continuing the ugly process. I had always admired stretched lobes and had wished to do it myself for some time, without understanding or researching the processes involved. While cynically watching my schoolmates' attempts, I decided that I wanted to do it too, and properly. So I BME-ed it and googled for an entire evening, deciding how to go about the process. On the not-long-awaited Saturday afternoon, I ... read more

My little story

Well, to start off my nose piercing is not my first one and it will not be my last. It was June of last year and I was wanting my nose pierced for about six months. As we all know women, tend to change our minds well lets just say, often haha. So after waiting for what I thought was long enough to talk myself out of it, I made my decision, I was getting that night come hell or high water. Being very excited I called my best friend, to come watch my make an ass out of myself ... read more

So it goes.

It's been two years since I got my first tattoo. My recollection at this point is a little hazy, but I'll put together what I can. It was April 2007, and I'd been wanting a tattoo, but I had no idea *what*. When the news came through that Kurt Vonnegut had died, I knew what it would be -- Vonnegut was my favourite author all through high school and beyond, and Slaughterhouse-Five has always held a very special place in my heart. I opted for the phrase "So it goes" -- as a tribute to Vonnegut and to that book ... read more

My Navel

I have always wanted a navel ring, for one reason: navel jewelry is so just so darn pretty! For years in high school I eyed racks of dangling rhinestones and thought "one day, when my belly is flat enough, I will wear one of those!" Yes, I am a self conscious girl. But a few months ago, after months of hitting the gym (not to mention getting over my teenage awkwardness) I finally felt ready. Having only had a couple of basic piercings done before (ears, nose, eyebrow), and I had trusted a friend of mine to refer me to ... read more

"Go big or go home"

I'll make sure I don't leave any detail out! Well, a few months ago I saw glass talons and barbs for the first time. A friend of mine showed me, and for whatever reason I wanted them stuck in my head. I just really liked the way the glass looks, the colors and different styles really appeal to me. I've have piercings done before, like my tongue and ears with small gauges, and I was never really excited about them. I had them removed a long time ago as a result. So aside from my ink I haven't had any ... read more
