Ever since I was little, it was drilled into my naive brain that piercing and tattoos were disgusting and trashy, so, of course I believed it. Any time I saw a piercing, I'd think, "Ew. That's sick." Especially say, nose piercing. The same went with tattoos. I always thought they were stupid and ugly. A few years later, I went to middle school. Yep, as most would tell you, it changes your views on everything. Many girls we're "Goth" and scene they wore black dresses with red bows. I thought they were ugly and stupid, but then after listening to ...

My horizontal lip piercing. I'm a kid that has always been interested in tattoo's piercings and that kind of things. So it was no wonder, that at the time I turned 16, I wanted piercings.. Hell I wanted allot of them. I started off with 2 off centre tongue piercings. Everything went fine with them, I still got them, 2 years later. But at the time I turned 17 I wanted to try something new. I always wanted to get a visible piercing. Just because I like the look on people their faces as they see it the first time. ...

My fascination with piercings started when my sister went to get her third and forth done when I was about ten. She had had her lobes done when she was born so that was nothing special and the ones she got done next were just higher up on her ears so yet again nothing special but seeing her get them done left me wanted to do so myself. Seeing as I am a male my parents said no. My dad had one of his ears done years ago but had taken it out and my mom had flat out refused ...

E"Ext-Inked 2009, the year in which the world celebrates Charles Darwin's bicentennial birthday, Ultimate Holding Company ( a Manchester based arts collective www.uhc.org.uk ) embarks on a once in a lifetime social experiment. With the expert assistance of several prominent conservation charities and the artistry of tattooists from Ink Vs Steel, Ultimate Holding Company have created ExtInked. An exhibition of drawings, individually illustrating one hundred of the most endangered species in the British Isles with the live tattooing of the drawings on one hundred willing volunteers" I read the flyer and thought. Yes. This is perfect. Right up my ...

So I had been wanting to get a tattoo since I was 17 or so, but I didn't want to rush into getting something that didn't have some sort of lasting meaning in my life. Around my 19th birthday I came up with a design I liked of a tenor saxophone placed over black and white checkers (I'm a big fan of ska music, both modern and going back all the way to Jamaica in the 60's). I've been playing saxophone since I was 10 and it has become not only my main hobby but the focus of my college ...

The one question I've always hated the most when people see my tattoos is the inevitable "what does it mean?" I don't really have an issue giving some explanation to the people who ask me, but most of the time, I'd just rather not. This is not because I'm a prick and don't have time for the un-tattooed masses, no. The explanation is sometimes just as painful as the tattoo, and really, having the tattoo in the first place is enough. Undoubtedly, most of the people here have stories or memories associated with their tattoos painful, funny, embarrassing, or ...

In a few days I will have had my nipple piercings for three weeks. I have been to hell and back. I love it, and I hate it. I got my piercing on my birthday and I wish I had reasearched more on nipple piercings. I was aware of what migration was, and what rejection was. The risks of infections and so forth. Now until you actually have your nipples pierced you cannot really gauge how it will go. Prior to having my nipples pierced I had my ears pierced 6 times, (three in each hole) by a piercing gun ...

I had never really loved piercings until around May this year when I went for my first piercing ever, which was my septum. Between May and July I got my septum, industrial, daith, eyebrow and smiley pierced. After that I left the piercings for a few months. But after a while I started getting the urge to get another piercing. I was about to go on a 2 week holiday to New Caledonia so I thought this would be the perfect time to get another piercing since I wouldn't have work for another 2 weeks. The question was, "what to ...

I've been interested in body modification for... a long while now (no need to detail my history of adolescent needle exploration and home-made tattoo guns). Well, that state of stupidity ended years back when I realized that hope was on the horizon- age 18 was approaching- enough to keep me away from alcohol soaked sewing needles. I finally turned 18, legal and free to mod as I pleased... minus my parents' rules. "No piercings in the house; either they're out or you're out." I had waited this long, why not a few more months? That was not my attitude. I ...
