Eindelijk mijn tepelpiercing!

Worth a Second Try

I remember the first conversation I had about suspending. I was talking to my then-boyfriend and he brought it up. Once I, in an ignorant and limited way, clarified what he was talking about ("you mean, like, hanging from shark hooks?"), my reaction to his interest in maybe perhaps trying it someday was probably the single most negative reaction of my life. I said it was creepy and weird and gross and ended with threatening, emptily, to break up with him if he ever did. Fast forward four years and several mind-opening experiences and let us visit a late ... read more

My Nipples Again

My story is of recovery. I have finally had my nipples repierced after some trauma to them and a time of healing. Now I am feeling much better and here is how it went. 14 years ago I had my nipples pierced. Over the next several years I gauged them to a respectable 8 gauge. While in a store, I leaned over a wire rack, caught my right ring in the wire and ripped my nipple nearly in half. Carefully, I pulled the ring out, bandaged myself up and proceeded to allow it to heal. In the mean time, I gauged ... read more

Septum anniversary

My septum piercing has lasted the best part of ten years. That's pretty good going for me. I have a history of hospital visits where my facial piercings get cut out due to infections caused by impacted teeth. I moved to Poole soon after meeting my husband ten years ago. I worked as a shop assistant for a few years but it wasn't paying the bills (plus one of the volunteers gave me grief after my promotion; I've been working here longer than you've been alive). I decided to apply for a job in a call centre where I sat ... read more

Sacred Heart

I can't remember when I first became a tattoo fan, I know I wanted piercings as a teenager but I never got my first until I was over eighteen. Even at that age my Mum tried to slap me. When I first moved into a flat with my husband I realised I could get whatever I wanted pierced. It was exciting. I started visiting Sarge, first to get my septum pierced, then a double labret, then a medusa closely followed by double nostrils, then I lost track. Each time I visited my Mum she'd be furious. Luckily, my younger sister ... read more

How I learned to stop worrying and love my nose

For as long as I can remember, I've hated my nose.  Okay, scratch that...I do remember a time when I didn't, but that was before middle school bullying and all the stupid, senseless, untrue-but-emotionally-scarring things that kids tend to say at a crucial period of self-esteem development.  So it's strange that I went and got my nose pierced today.  And at the same time, it's not.  There's a kind of semi-twisted logic to it that led me down this road to begin with.   It wasn't an entirely spur of the moment decision, but it was a step into the ... read more

4 point suicide suspension

A quick background about myself: At 5’8” and almost 300lbs, I had never seen or heard of people my size being suspended. I kept making excuses not to do it. I need to lose weight, I don’t have the money, I don’t know if I’m ready, etc, etc. I have various piercings and have performed a chest hook pull twice prior. This passed weekend I had the opportunity and I took it. I was suspended in a 4 point suicide suspension using four  8g hooks. I wrote this the day after the experience while it was still fresh in my ... read more

Solar Brand: A truly intense experience

This past weekend I drove from my home in Austin, Texas, to Phoenix, Arizona to visit a friend. I needed to get away from all of the madness, and sadness, that was lingering here. When I first talked to Rome about the possibility of visiting, he asked if he could brand me. I didn’t know much about it, only seen about two videos (one of them his) and read a short article on ModBlog once about it, but I said yes anyway. Of course, I did what research I could before I left. However, there’s not a lot out there ... read more

First Suspension: Knees

Ever since I saw someone suspend (don't remember where) I was instantly in love and without a second thought "I want to do that!" came to mind. After exhausting the internet of videos and pictures of people being hung from hooks I came across the State of Bliss Suspension Team, one of the only teams in England and I'd say the best (or at least had the best reputation and advertisement - later explained to me that they were the ones most confident in their ability). I liked their Facebook page and forgot about it for a few weeks. One ... read more

DIY Tragus

To begin with, I have this passion for body mods and once I get an idea in my head, it'll lurk there until I get it done. Needless to say I have experience it piercing both myself and others although I have yet to obtain the "professional piercer" title. Which is due to being under aged. Although I know this is something to look down on I do what I do simply because it is part of what I enjoy. Body modifications are a way of life, not some trend or a "cool" thing. You're either in it for the ... read more
