My first cartilage

Ever since I got my second holes in my ears, I had really wanted my cartilage done too. As cliched as this sounds, piercings (as I'm sure tattoos) are really addictive. The only thing stopping me from going ballistic with piercings is getting a professional job out of college :-( (it really sucks that people are still so freaking judgmental today). I'm usually very good with needles, but I had heard stories where people said it was painful and that some people's ears had swelled up after infections and it made me nervous. I researched all the possible things that ... read more

My Daith Piercing

I’ve had 2 sets of lobe piercings since I was 5 years old and decided in late 2009 to start stretching my first set of piercings. Due to my personal, preferred aesthetics, I decided to remove my second lobe piercings. As I have my right tragus pierced, I felt like I wanted to balance out my ear piercings by getting another one in my left ear. After looking online and just observing other people’s piercings while out and about, I settled on a daith. I loved the look of it and the fact that it’s recessed down in your ear. ... read more

The Beginnings/My Short Story

I’ve been wanting to be a piercer since I was in middle-school. I guess I've always had a fascination with the human body. I also had a deep fascination boarder-line obsession with the different ways the human body can be modified for the sake of beauty, sacrifice, ritual, religion, etc. I also found medical oddities, and freak-show literature, and culture very interesting. From virtually living in the Mutter Museum to studying the art of Joel-Peter Witken, HR Geiger, and others, I found my niche in what I am passionate about and what interests me the most. I knew I wanted to be a piercer ... read more

My Septum

I'd wanted my septum pierced for four years, but had never gotten the courage to get it done. This was, in part, due to thinking it wouldn't suit me, but also not having the confidence to ignore that doubt and do it anyway. Recently I've had a steady boost in confidence due to seeing a counsellor and getting my life in order - and I decided what better way to celebrate my new found confidence and comfort in myself than by getting a piercing I'd wanted for ages? I visited a shop near my uni that several of my friends ... read more

DIY inner conch

Let me just start off by saying that you should not pierce yourself if you don't have to. A lot can go wrong and professionals really know what they're doing. That being said, do not go out and get pierced anywhere that uses guns. I have been horrified to see my friends with new piercings, only to find out that they got it done with a gun. Not just lobes, either. I'm talking tragus piercings and helix piercings. Don't do it! Guns are bad. Anyway, back to my conch. I've always wanted a big ring around my ear, so one ... read more

My conch – just keep pushing!

Shortly after I had my helix pierced, I started to get the itch again for another piercing. I started researching other sites, and finally settled on 3 options. Either adjacent to my helix, my tragus, or my snug. The tragus was looking unlikely, however, one Friday I went out to lunch, and our waiter had a most curious piercing in her ear. Right inside it. When I went home, I researched it and found that it was the inner conch. I knew at that point that that was the one for me. I was a bit short on funds at ... read more

Old Venom Piercing.

This is old. But I remember I kept track of my experiance and wanted to share it. Thursday, February 4th, 2010. I made plans with my friends to get my piercings, I was supposed to go to a different piercer to get them done, but, he wound up saying there were to many complications with the process and decided to not do it. So I went to a place I knew would. three or four days earlier I went over to tattoo nation here in San Antonio with my friend. it was 45$ for each individual one. but, as I ... read more

Loving my nape!

I remember when I first saw a nape piercing when I was 18 in college. It initially turned me off and I was grossed out, but I was only interested in more ear piercings and maybe a nose at the time, so that figured. After I got some facial ones a couple of years later, I was more into uncommon piercings, so I became interested at that point. I looked at galleries online, looking carefully at the pictures and reading up on all of the stories, and I had to decide if this was something I really wanted. I did ... read more

DIY Nies

So first of all, I know that nies piercing is not so well-known, so I'm going to explain where it is. It is placed on that particular part of skin where your ear joins your head. (You can see pictures in the BME Gallery) The idea of getting nies has crossed my mind a long time ago, but actually i've never taken it seriously. I was thinking that it would be awesome to have such piercing, but I have never seen anyone with nies, so I thought that this is for a reason and it is very hard or painful ... read more

A life long stretching dream come true!

I’ll never forget when I first became interested in lobe stretching: I was sitting at my Great Grandma’s house in Michigan and she was watching some sort of documentary (I couldn’t have been more than 8 years old.) On this documentary, there were two old women who had hung weights from their ears their entire lives and their ear lobes had become long enough for them to wrap into their ponytails. I was amazed! After that experience, I was very interested in the cultural aspects of body modification. I did tons of research on a large variant of piercings, but ... read more
