Stretching with Tape Saved My Life

Well, I might be exaggerating a bit, but by using the taping method, it really has helped me with my stretching in the long run. But before I tell you about my experience that day, I might as well give you a little history on my stretching experiences up until now.

I got my lobes pierced at an 8g and a pair of seconds at a 10g at Infinite Body on, South street, in Philadelphia, by Clay. I only intended on stretching the bottoms as I was going to put regular earrings in the seconds (obviously I had no idea at the time that 10g was nowhere near the standard post size).

I'll admit that at first, the only reason, I really wanted plugs, was because all of my friends were doing it and because it looked cool. But of course, that's usually the mentality for a lot of kids when they start doing this so I'm not alone on that. Obviously, I'm not as inexperienced and naive as I was then about stretching now, what with learning all the proper terms and what not but... yeah.

I took great care of my ears, doing all of my aftercare and going above and beyond just to make sure that this time, my ears would be in good shape (when I was 9 I first got my ears gunned at a Claire's, they got infected and I let them close).

For my stretch from 8 to 6, I stupidly decided to use a glass spiral without any lubrication and convinced myself that severe pain was the way to go. Thankfully, that was the only dumb moment I had and was more intelligent with my other stretches, until I tried getting to zero.

I'd been at 2g for the longest time so I just decided that that day would be the day that I'd use a pair of frosted glass tapers to stretch to a zero. The first couple of attempts didn't work, so I decided to just shove them in as far as I could and keep them in during the school day, pushing them further in until I had reached my goal. Obviously, that didn't work and the story ends with two sore, angry, ripped, lobes and a lot of pain.

Eventually, after a lot of waiting, I got to a 0 and decided that I would honestly take my time with stretching because, there really is no rush. I've waited at a 0 for 1 1/2 years and last week I decided to use a new method to stretch to 00, the taping method.

Previously, I had been doing a lot of research on taping because I'd heard from a community on livejournal that I'm in that taping was a much easier, safer way of stretching especially when you had problem ears like mine. I eventually went out and bought some plummers tape with the intentions of stretching to my goal size in hopefully a few days.

Which brings me to the current events of that day.

When I got home from school, I went to the bathroom for my ritual vitamin e rub for my lobes because I'd been using plumbers tape for the past week to gradually stretch up from a 0 (8mm) to a 00 (9 or so mm) so my ears were, naturally, a bit dry.

As I was massaging in the oil, I decided to see how far I might have to tape before I could finally fit my 00s in. So, I got a 00g glass spiral and slowly eased it into my left ear (the problem ear) first and to my delight it slid in like butter. Already excited, I tried the right ear, which I was a little apprehensive about because I had torn it from a previous stretch and wasn't sure how it would react. Thankfully, the spiral went in with only minimal resistance.

To be safe, I put two more layers of tape onto my right plug with intentions on keeping them in until I got proper 00 plugs. But, because I've got no money at the moment and my ears seem to be stretching themselves all of a sudden, I've decided to keep adding on tape, slowly making my way to my new goal size of 1/2".

I'm just genuinely excited about this because without using tape, I wouldn't have been able to reach my original goal size. I'm extremely pleased with the results as this was my first time using the taping method and found that there were no problems with irritation, allergies, or anything else. Needless to say, this was the easiest stretch I've ever had.

In other words, I'll be using the taping method from now on for further stretches because it's a cheaper, easier, and gentler method in comparison to using a taper or weights.
