My tragus piercing
I'd been planning on getting my tragus pierced for a few months, I had already stretched my ear to a 3mm and my ear was looking quite empty.
Originally my girlfriend was gonna take me to get it done (she's really into piercings) but one sunday morning my mother decided to give me fifteen pounds and I had nothing to do so I thought I'd go get it done.
The only place i knew i could get it done for under that was Blue Banana, I've heard an awful lot of bad things about them and I was a little apprehensive about going there.
I'd heard that a lot of their piercers were people who had just attended two week training courses and have little or no experience in piercing. There was also a silly rumor about them not using disposable needles, but I decided to make my own opinion there.
It was for this I decided to get what I thought to be a relatively simple piercing rather than a surface piercing or something.
I'd done my research and knew the sorts of things to look out for, make sure the needle has come from a sealed packet and make sure he washes his hands and uses disposable gloves etc.
I caught the bus up on my own and got a Mcdonalds, on my own, it was a sunday and I couldn't get anyone to come up with me, which was a pain in the neck.
I arrived and asked for the piercing, the woman asked me to sign a few forms but didn't ask me for ID, which is unusual because I look about fourteen. This was all relatively easy and quick. I had to sign something saying I'd received written cleaning information which I hadn't, which wasn't a particularly big deal but still seemed a little odd.
I chose my jewelery and took a seat, about ten minutes later a man asked me to come in, the first thing I asked was if I could see his credentials, I felt like a bit of a dick asking this but I wanted to be sure. He opened a drawer and showed me a variety of certificates and a signed form saying he'd completed an apprenticeship that lasted x amount of years, so I was happy to continue.
He asked me then to take a seat, as he readied his equipment he explained the procedure quite clearly to me, told me how long i'd need to wait before I can take it out and how to clean it, he went on to tell me to come back if I had any problems and a few other things.
He put the clamp on my tragus and readied his needle. He told me it was about to go in so I braced myself...
It was going through and it was quite possibly the most disgusting thing i'd ever felt in my life, it felt like it was jerked in bit by bit, i could feel the clamp on my ear quite tightly too, which wasn't the nicest feeling ever.
It wasn't particularly painful though, which was a bonus because i'd have hated for it to be painful and disgusting at the same time.
Apparently it pretty much went straight in and the tugging sensation I felt was just it going in and out, which was a bit of a relief.
He then presented me with a cleaning kit and guide and told me to be on my way.
All in all it had happened extremely quickly, aside from the cleaning procedure it took less than a minute to pierce me and insert jewelery.
At the moment, my tragus is healing fine, no bleeding problems and no trouble to clean, its not sore any more either.
All in all, for ten pounds I can't complain, half the price it would have been at a studio and i got a cleaning kit which included a bottle of tea tree oil and a leaflet about cleaning. This was included in the price so an excellent deal for excellent service in my opinion.
I probably wouldn't get my other ear done, just because of the horrible sensation I felt when the needle was going through, if it somehow became infected or i had to take it out and let it close up for any reason I would definitely get it pierced again. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get it done, apparently its only me who felt the weird sensation, even people who got pierced by the same piercer said it felt fine so I guess I'm just a little weird.
I'm definitely going back there for my next piercing and unless I have any problems will be happy to recommend it to my friends.
