my first piercing...my nape
I was fourteen and had been wanting piercings for as long as I could remember. I lived in a small country town where the body modification scene was not understood. My dad was into the whole redneck thing and didn't want me to be a freak. I begged and begged him to let me get my tongue piercing but that is one thing he wouldn't do. So I got on BMEZINE.com to look for ideas to talk my dad into it. While I was looking I ran into the surface piercings and fell in love with the neck piercing. I ran the idea by my mom and she said as long as they don't get to close to the spine that she didn't care. So I finally asked dad and he thought I wasn't serious and would chicken out so he said sure why not. So one September 16th he had my mom ( He cant watch stuff like that) take me up to Voodoo dolls to get it done.
I met Jen up there who was going to do the piercing for me and explained the procedure and the risks involved. She said with the neck piercing that it is liable to reject within 6 months to a year. I didn't expect to keep it long so I went ahead and got the papers filed out. We went back and I jumped in the chair and got ready for the unexpected. I had never had a piercing before and was so nervous. I didn't even have my ears pierced! Jen went over everything again and explained everything about the questions I had. I had the bright idea to bring a friend along so that she could catch it all on camera. I focused on the rock music in the background to keep my mind off of what was about to happen. She said she was ready to pierce and I said to go ahead and do it. I felt her putting the cleaning stuff on my neck and then her fidgeting around back there. When I was anticipating the pain of her shoving the 14 gauge needle into my neck she said I was all done. I couldn't believe she had done everything without me even realizing it. I got up and looked into the mirror just to make sure she wasn't jerking my chain. Sure enough it was right there and looked ten times better than the pictures. She gave me instructions on how to take care of it then took me up to pay. I gave her a nice tip (remember that they will pierce you and you don't want to make them mad) and was on my way. Dad could not believe I had actually gone through with it and said at least he couldn't see the tongue piercing if I got that. ( and yes I got that done too now.) Of course I had to show him the video, which almost caused him to pass out. All my friends thought that I must me crazy and some even thought it had to be fake. For a while I was know as the guy with the neck piercing at my school. I loved showing it to teachers to see their expressions. In line at stores I could always tell when someone saw it because I could hear their gasps. And everyone just had to ask me "DID THAT HURT!" The aftercare was simple and easy to do whenever. I did everything I was supposed to do and sure enough it healed up fine. I found that sometimes it bothered me to lay directly on it but it was just a sometime thing. I fell in love with it more and more everytime I heard someone say "oh my god, is that in your neck?" After having it for sometime my best friend Nathan jumped on me and caught his bracelet on it. It was the most painful thing I've ever felt. Lucky the pain only lasted about a minute and a half and there was very little blood lost. It was torn a little bit but I left it alone and cleaned it every now and again, It healed (again) and now you cant even tell it happened. It had tried to reject but never did. I don't know what I would have done if it had rejected. (definitely would have gotten it redone.) Now im 18 and still have it and thinking of getting another one beneath it. It was so worth the money and and I recommend it to anyone who even thinks of getting one. Trust me.....you will not be unsatisfied with it! By the way, the video is now blackmail because is shows me so nervous that I was shaking. Bad idea on my part!
