My First Piercing. Nipples!

About 6 months from the time I wanted to get my nipples pierced I spend hours watching videos of people getting the piercing. It looked pretty painful but I still wanted to go in and get it done. I was 17 at the time and in California you have to be at least 18 years of age to get a piercing. One of my friends Courtney received a tongue piercing from there and she was 17 also, so it made me think that I should try and get it pierced.

I called the shop, for reference it is called Holy field's Tattoo and Body Piercing. I am not sure what the pierces name was, but she was the only lady who does them and I am pretty sure she owns the shop. Anyway i walk in and the first thing she asks me is if I am 18. I said, no I'm 17. She gets this weird look on her face and says well it is your nipples, so it will be ok. My heart started racing thinking that wow I am really going to get my nipples pierced!

She had me sit in the back on one of those padded tables. She told me to take off my shirt and proceeded to get her tools ready. I was very nervous the whole time because I wasn't sure what to expect. She asked if i wanted a ring or a straight barbell and i said straight barbell. (but i really wish i would have said ring in the first place, keep reading you will see)

I didn't ask what gauge she was piercing at but I assumed it was 14g and it was. She told me to breathe in and when i let my breathe out she pushed the needle through my left nipple. It was pretty painful, but bearable. Then she tried to insert the barbell but it wouldn't go in. I am not sure what was wrong with it but I assume that it was a 12 ga so it wouldn't fit, but never knew why. So she said that she would pierce it again. My heart stopped, and i thought are you seriously going to put my nipple through this again? Shit. So i breathed in and out and more pain. The barbell fit this time but looked really weird, so she told me that we should use the ring instead. So i said ok, and guess what she said. She told me that she was going to have to pierce it again! I really didn't want to but i wanted my nipples pierced for a long time and knew it would be worth it. So i took one for the team and the ring was fine. She then proceeded to do the right nipple and everything went w ell with it, no re-pierce or anything like that. I was very happy once everything was done. I couldn't feel my nipples now, and i was bleeding a little bit. Also i was wearing a white shirt that day, and a tip would be to wear a dark shirt because it will get bloody. She provided me with some gauze and told me to wash it everyday with soap. The piercing was $80 for both (including jewelery). I didn't tip the piercer just because i was a little upset about what had happened.

The healing process has been a little bit hard for me. My nipples got a little bit infected and have been recovering. I never did sea salt soaks but recently started doing them to help. My nipples were pierced with a steel Ball Captive Ring, and i wanted to change it to titanium to see if it would help it heal faster. I have had my nipples pierced for about six months now, and I do know that it could take a year or even two years for them to heal fully. The only time that my nipples get in the way of anything is if I am doing a contact sport and they get knocked, then they might possibly bleed a little bit but nothing major. I sort of surprised my girlfriend because she always wanted me to get my nipples pierced and when i showed her she loved them but cringed a little bit because they look painful. My parents still don't know about them, (yes they are very easy to hide) but maybe I will tell them eventually. In the future I plan on getting a PA and exploring piercings even m ore.

From this experience I learned that I probably should have waited until I was 18 to get a piercing. Although now my nipples look really good and turned out great. I am really happy with them. If you are on the fence with getting your nipples pierced, just go for it. Its an experience you have to go through. Thanks for reading.
