A Little Late-Night Spontaneity
Let me start off by saying that I'm a relative newcomer to body modification. I have acquired all of my piercings/ tattoos within the past six months. That being said, I love all of them, and have found my frequent trips to the shop to be extremely exhilarating.
My interest in female nipple piercing was piqued, literally, in one night. After one of my usual trips to bmezine.com to look at piercing photos, I clicked on "Female Nipple Piercing" to read stories and see examples. I've never really liked my boobs -- they're too small, in my opinion -- and I thought that maybe if they were pierced, I would like them more. I knew that, were I ever to get them done, I would go to River City Tattoo (the shop where I got my industrial done) because the resident piercer, Jessika, is extremely well-qualified. (I was also hesitant to disrobe in front of my extremely attractive tattoo artist Dane, who has done all of my tattoos and other piercings.) To top it off, I had a $15 gift card to RCT, which would definitely help with the $85 price tag.
The next night, I was doing the dishes when my friend Ava called and asked if I wanted to tool around downtown. I picked her up, and we headed into Richmond, expecting to end up at our usual hookah bar. On the way, I expressed my desire to get my nipples pierced and my rationale for wanting to do so. "Well, do you want to go get them done now?" Ava asked. It was on our way. I decided to go for it.
We arrived at River City Tattoo at about 8:45PM. We walked around the lobby a bit looking at their expansive body jewelry collection, trying to look nonchalant. I finally got the courage to approach the artist behind the counter. "What can I do for you?" he asked. I asked if Jessika was in, to which he replied, "No, she's out for the evening, but Jenny's available." Jenny had done a great job with my industrial, so I was confident in her ability. I turned to Ava. "Should I do it?" I asked. She shrugged, but the guy behind the counter said "Yes. Totally." I laughed and said, "Well, I might be interested in getting my nipples done, but I have to think about it a little more." He said to take my time, so Ava and I wasted a bit more time looking at gauges and barbells. I decided in short order that I wasn't going to walk out empty-handed, and signed the release form. I was ready to get some more holes punched through me.
Jenny got the room all set up and laid her instruments on the table. I already knew all the aftercare instructions, so we rushed right into the main event. Jenny asked me to stand in front of her with my arms to my sides while she marked the points of entry and exit on my nipples. I was surprised that I wasn't more nervous baring my breasts to an (almost) complete stranger. Jenny then had me lay on the piercing chair with one arm bent at the elbow supporting my head. She said she would count to three, and then pierce. For the first two counts, I breathed in, and on the count of three, I exhaled. It honestly didn't hurt that bad; it was just an uncomfortable pinch. "Wow, that was nothing," I said (I had also said this when I got my industrial done). "Hmm. You're tough," Jenny replied. She did the second nipple, and I repeated my breathing technique (trust me, this really helps). The second one hurt a little more, and I gave a little "Ooh." She slid my last barbell in and I was set! I hopped off the chair and checked out my new babies in the mirror. They were sexy, shiny, and maybe even a little bad ass. I smiled widely, told Jenny that she was awesome, and tipped her $20.
"They're already so much cuter!" I enthused to Ava as we stepped outside. "Well, I'm glad," she laughed. I was extremely pleased, although I had to drive home with the seatbelt under my arm.
Most of my girlfriends can't believe I did it. I have no problems flashing them when they ask to see, either. I had a little bleeding a few hours after the piercing, but nothing big. Washing them at least twice a day with antibacterial soap really helps, as do occasional salt water soaks. I can't wait for them to heal!
All things considered... I couldn't have given myself a better graduation present. =)
(Note: If you're thinking about getting this done, do it! Don't psych yourself out too much -- the pain is negligible. If it makes you happy, you won't regret it.)
