Completely worth it.

I have always had a love for body mods, but due to certain work restrictions I am unable to have any visible piercings. My need to get pierced, however, was overwhelming. I had not gotten a new piercing for over six months and I was itching something new.

I had previously considered getting my nipples pierced, but I had always dismissed the idea as I had heard way too many horror stories about them getting caught on clothing and being ripped out. Recently though, I had started considering nipple piercings a little more seriously and, about two weeks ago, I decided I was going to get them done.

I was unsure of where I wanted to go to get them done. My boyfriend wanted me to get them pierced by his usual piercer, but I wasn't sure I was comfortable taking my shirt off in front of her. I knew that Primal Urge were good though, because that is where my sister and all my close friends went for their piercings, and they have never had anything bad to say.

My boyfriend and I caught the train in to the city and walked to Primal Urge. It was a Saturday and I had not booked an appointment in advance, so I was a little worried they'd be full. I was in luck, however, because they had one available space at 2pm that day. We had about two hours to kill so we did some shopping while I tried to psych myself up for what was to come.

Finally it was time. We walked back to Primal Urge and by boyfriend sat down while I filled out the paper work. I think I was more nervous about flashing my breasts than anything else. We waited while Hayley prepared everything and then she called me in. I felt immediately relieved. Hayley was so sweet and friendly and she made me feel instantly comfortable. I didn't even think twice when she asked me to take my shirt off.

Hayley talked me through everything and carefully drew the dots where the piercings would soon be. I inspected them in the mirror and I was happy with the placement, so she asked me to lay down on the table.

She pierced my left nipple first and then my right. I didn't even notice when she put the clamps on because I was too busy preparing myself for the pain. I won't lie and say that it didn't hurt, because it sure as heck did. It was over quickly however, and I had my boyfriend's hand to squeeze nice and tightly. It was probably the worst pain I've had from any piercing, but I'm not complaining because I think they look fantastic.

I really have to say that Hayley is a wonderful body piercer and I would definitely recommend her if you live in Perth. She's very welcoming and caring, and she told us a lot of stories which took my mind off the pain.

My nipples hurt for a few hours afterwards, it was a sort of aching/stinging feeling and I had to go home and lay down because I felt a little groggy. I felt unwell and I had a headache for a little while, but I think it was mainly due to shock. Nothing pizza and movies while laying on the couch couldn't fix. By the next day the pain was gone and I was feeling a lot better. I was even able to lay down on my side (though I won't be sleeping on my stomach until they're fully healed). I've heard a lot of people say that they slept with a bra on for the first few days, but I was more comfortable without one.

One of the first things I noticed is how sensitive my nipples are now that they've been pierced. I feel every single thing that brushes against them, even when it's through my bra.

They're nice and easy to take care of, too. I just clean them in the shower with the solution Hayley gave to me (which stings a little, but not much) and wash it off after about a minute. Simple.

I am completely in love with my new piercings. I don't even know how I went without them for so long. For anyone who is considering getting their nipples pierced, I say go for it. They look wonderful and they are definitely worth the pain. I recommend getting both done at the same time, like I did, so that they heal together. It's only been just under a week but mine are already healing beautifully. There was no bruising or bleeding either, which is a bonus.

If you're thinking about getting them done, but you're concerned about the pain, don't let it stop you. It's very quick and once you've had it done I think you'll agree that it was completely worth it.
