My nipple pierce (Four Roses Piercing)

ef = "/cgi-bin/vote/votec.cgi?/pierce/08-nipple/990401/fourrose.html">

I had never been interested in piercings. A few of the guys at school had pierced ears but I found that a little boring and everyone seemed to be doing it which it made it a little too mainstream. As I hit my 20's I started to think about it some more. I still didnt like earings on men, they still seemed a little too asthetic and impersonal. What I really wanted was something that would have some personal meaning for me - to hell with everyone else.

So one day a few years ago, I left my office, walked to the seedy side of the city in my italian suit complete with mobile phone & briefcase, rambled into a tattoo parlour and got myself inked. A smallish design on my shoulder that I had picked out some time before and had some personal meaning.

Well to say I loved it was an understanding. What a total rush!! Besides the obvious adrenaline rush involved that day, it had a more profound effect on me personally. It was my secret, my own expression of individuality, a part of my true identity.

As a little time passed I started wanting a second tattoo. But the reality was that I couldnt really think of anything I wanted permanently on my body. I had been frequently checking out BME at this stage and started thinking about piercing again. I particularly love tongue and eyebrow piercing, but having a job in a bank wouldn't really allow these visible piercings.

I had been debating this situation for some time when I finally decided that it would have to be my nipple. Im not really interested in genital piercing, but the thought of nipple piercing was both exciting and terrifying. My nipples are very sensitive anyway but I figured the pain from a 45 minute tattoo would have to be worse than a 2 second piercing so why be concerned? Anyway, many of the stories I read talked about anaesthetic creams so I figured it wouldnt be that bad. I sat up late at night reading everything I could find in BME and elsewhere on the net to make sure this is what I wanted to do....and then one morning I woke up and decided the time was right. I had been told that there was one particularly good place (Four Roses Piercing, Hindley Street Adelaide) so I gave them a call to ask a few minor questions. No it wouldnt cost much, no I didnt need to make an appointment, no it wouldnt take long. No matter what I asked they had the answers, and were friendly and warm so I knew that it was the place to go.

Half an hour later I walked in, legs shaking from fear and excitement. The early stages are still a bit of a blur, I picked out a BCR, paid my money, and was led into a clean back room with what looked awfully like an electric chair in it. Then I watched as my piercer cleaned up, donned some gloves and pushed the chair back with me in it. Also in the room was someone learning to pierce, so I had the pleasure (?!?) of hearing very clear descriptives of what was happening. "Ok, we have to clean the site very carefully...." etc. They proceeded to cut some of my chest hair away from around the nipple before pulling out a clamp with serrated teeth.

"This is my favourite although not many people use this type...." I could hear the piercing saying to the apprentice. Ok, now Im starting to really shake, Im terrified at the thought of having the CLAMP on my nipple, let alone having sharp steel pushed through it. And sure enough I found the clamp very painful indeed, but I lay back and gritted my teeth. Shit I thought, no anaesthetic.......

"Ok, on the count of three, one, two, three...." the piercer continued. Suddenly my world turned a blinding white....I've never experienced pain in colour before but that's exactly how it happened. To say I was in agony isn't an understatement. Then I heard a pop sound as something made its way out the other side of my nipple....Im still not sure if it was the needle or the BCR but I remember the sensation and sound vividly!

"Hmm, it isnt bleeding" the apprentice said.

"Wait for it" the piercer said, followed by a chuckle from the apprentice. But at this point I was beyond caring, I was in a dream like state of pain mixed in with ecstacy, and not a little proud of the fact I had gone through it. Unfortunately I had to rush home to get showered and ready for work, which proved to be an experience in itself. My collegues described me as having a "dreamy just-had-sex look" that afternoon. My nipple, whilst sore as hell, would go through an hour of intense pleasure followed by an hour of intense pain, and this went on for the rest of the day.

A couple of days later I left for a beachside holiday with some close friends. I had tried to time my piercing with this holiday so I could spend some time in the sea (I had read this promoted healing - note make sure you clean the pierce after each swim!). Three days in sea water was the best thing I could have possibly done, and suffice to say it is now two and a half weeks later and the damned thing has almost healed! Virtually no crusties, moves easily, the skin has healed right into the pierce, it is amazing!! Im still washing carefully twice a day and will for some time but it really has healed well and fast.

How do I feel about it now? I absolutely love it!!! I love the way it looks, I love the way it feels, and I love knowing that it was done for me. I love walking around grinning because the weight of the BCR tugging at my nipple feels so good.

I have to add here though that some people are really shocked by this type of pierce. Most of the women that I have showed have all been fine, but if I tell guys about it they really freak out. My father who didnt bat an eyelid when I got my tattoo went crazy and suggested that I was some sort of "Crazed weirdo". Some of my friends have also given me the same stand-offish look when they have found out. But dont let anyone faze you - this has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself and I wont let anyone put a downer on that!

Lastly, I have to say an extra special thanx here to BME for giving me the inspiration to do it and the information to educate me on safety and hygene. Also if anyone can point me in the direction of some interesting custom jewellers I would be very interested. Cheers!
