1st piercing (nipples)

anted to share this story, especially for everyone out there who is contemplating getting their first piercing. DO IT, you'll be hooked, pardon the pun....

I decided to get both my nipples pierced. I looked around on the internet and Perforations in Washington, D.C. was not only the closest member of the A.P.P., but their website was very interesting as well. Everyone was great, from the first phone call, to leaving the shop. I have to be honest, as my husband and I pulled up, he had a strange look on his face and said, "I don't know if I want you to go in that place." The neighborhood is enough to make some people nervous. The shop itself doesn't appear to be much on the outside, and the inside isn't exactly palatial. Perforations does have it where it counts: there was a large jewelry selection and the staff are all personable, happy to answer questions, no matter how many times they must have heard the same one, and they know their stuff. I didn't eat before having this done figuring I handle it better on an empty stomach, but I was told to go get something to eat and come back, so the intensity of the procedure combined with low blood sugar wouldn't make me pass out. I have some extra pounds and I have large, 42 D breasts. I am so overly self-conscious I have a hard time letting my husband of four years see me naked. I thought I would feel funny taking my shirt off. I really surprised myself. Jason made me feel at ease and I didn't have any trouble. He was very professional and I wasn't the least bit uncomfortable. I even signed the release form to allow pictures to be taken for Jason's portfolio.

Imagine, me, not only going "topless" but being photographed too. I mean, they don't show your face, but for me it was a start. That's one of the reasons I had this done, as a "jump start" to being more outgoing.

After I picked out my beautiful Titanium rings, one a blue/green and one a violet/blue with silver beads, it was only about 10-15 minutes before it was all over. Jason very carefully measured and made alignment marks. He must have went through about 10 pairs of rubber gloves from start to finish. Did it hurt, YES! I think my husband had a harder time watching that I did having it done. He asked me to describe what it felt like, here's my answer: at first it was the pinch of the forceps, then a stronger, firm pinch as the needle started to go in, there was a sharp, searing, burning pain as the needle and ring went through, but that was it, only a few seconds. I said ouch for the left one, and barely made a face for the right one. Jason was very calming and told me just to relax and concentrate on my breathing. He asked if I wanted him to count and let me know when it was coming, or just sort of do it. I said I would be better to just be chatting or whatever and bang, do the deed. So we chatted and ouch for a second and then it was over.

I couldn't look up at my husband for the second one because his face gave away when the needle was coming. They were sore as I went braless for the ride home. The bumpy Washington streets were pretty unforgiving too.

Putting on a snug sports bra when I got home helped a lot, I also slept in it. There was absolutely no blood until I cleaned them the next morning, which hurt a good bit. There was just a small amount of seeping blood that lasted for a minute or two.

All in all, Peforations is a neat place and I can't wait to go back and have a horizontal hood piercing and a tattoo I've been planning for a while. I've written this just having them done about ten hours ago. Yes, it hurt. Would I do it again, you bet.
