Finally my tongue

I've wanted my tongue pierced on and off since i was ten or so. It all started with my brother getting his tongue done, I seen it and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. My mom is all against piercings and tattoo's so of course she lectured me on how bad it was. But at seventeen I talked her into letting me get my belly button pierced. After that I knew there was no way she was going to let me get another piercing.

I turned 18 a week ago, a day before my birthday I went into my piercer and talked to him about getting my tongue done, he ,of course, told me I would have to wait until I turned 18. We set up an appointment for 1 o'clock the next day (my birthday and also his day off). I was excited and not a bit nervous or scared.

At about noon on the day I was to get it done I decided I wanted my boyfriend to be there, and one of my very close friends, so I went and picked them up. We headed over to the shop, and I ended up being a half hour early. While waiting for Dan to show up, me and my friends sat outside and had a smoke, then continued inside to look around.

There really wasn't anything new for me to see (I'd been here a thousand times), so I sat down to relax. Dan came in just about that time, and that's when my nerves kicked in. He grabbed the paper work for me to fill out, made a copy of my I.D. and went to go get everything ready.

Once I was done filling out my paper work and Dan had everything ready he told me to go on back. Dan had me rinse my mouth with some mouthwash, and told me to sit down and relax. He had me stick out my tongue, Looked for vein's and all that good stuff, told me to go ahead and put my tongue away, at this point I was really nervous, almost hoping he wouldn't be able to do it.

Dan told me to stick out my tongue again, dried it with a paper towel, and clamped it. He moved the clamp around a bit, then took it off. He marked my tongue, then told me to go ahead and relax, put my tongue away if I wanted. After a minute or so he told me to stick my tongue back out, clamped it again, and moved the clamp around a bit.

He told me I had a hard tongue, cause its short and I have a lot of veins. He finally got the placement right, told me to take a deep breath, and shoved the needle through, from bottom to top. It HURT. My eyes watered. Dan pushed the barbell through and put on the ball, then put my tongue back in my mouth. First thing I said was that they lied about it hurting.

Dan went through the after care and cleaning instructions with me and told me to keep my tongue in my mouth, try not to talk to much, and to eat/drink as much cold as possible for the first 2 or so days, and that I could move to a shorter barbell in two weeks.

First thing I did was went and got an icee pop. It hurt and throbbed a lot. After an hour or so the pain went down a bit, but I had a killer lisp, it to everything in my power to talk so people could understand me. I drank a lot of cold water the first day, and started taking some non-aspirin.

The first two days were the worst, I couldn't eat anything solid at all, and soup just irritated it. So I was pretty much just running on water and energy drinks. After the second day I could eat bland foods, anything with spice irritated it, but the swelling was less noticeable. Now a week later I'm eating normally again, I still have some trouble with spice but its not as bad. I have yet to bite my barbell. My mom isn't to happy about it, but my dad is very accepting, he even bought me ice cream to eat when I couldn't eat anything else.

I have been using H2Ocean to clean after eating and drinking, it actually burns a little, but its not to bad, and it works. I was told not to use anything with alcohol and I would stick to that, alcohol burns and makes it hurt.

I am very happy with my piercing, and very happy with my piercer. Dan does amazing work, and he cares about people in general, if you live around Sioux Falls and ever want to get a piercing but don't know where to go, head over to Dan at the Electric Crayon.
