The worst & best thing I ever done
Ok so I decided to get my tongue pierced Tuesday (4 days ago) after doing a lot of research and asking some of my friends what there personal experiences where like, I woke up and made sure I ate breakfast, got in the car and me and my mate drove into town.
We done a little bit of shopping (any thing to take me mind of it) and then had lunch, then it was time to go to the piercing studio, 4 cigarettes later I walked in, pale white and absolutely dreading it.
I walked up to the counter and filled in a form (just asking about health) and paid my £20.00, the girl told us to wait in the waiting room and it would be 15 - 20 minutes whilst the women sterilized every thing .
20 minutes later she called me into the room, she told me there was nothing to worry about and that I would be fine, she cleaned her hands and put some gloves (disposable ones) she told me to stick my tongue out and she dried it, she then placed the clamp on, and before I knew the needle had gone through (my eyes where shut) it was surprisingly painless, she tightened the balls and I rinsed my mouth out.
The piercer then explained the aftercare procedure and I was on my way.
The piercing tingled for a hour or so but not that uncomfortable, I went home and carried on normal, I had a little bit of a lisp but nothing that noticeable, I thought I had got away with an easy ride.
Went to bed and slept well, I was then woken up by a throbbing tongue, my tongue had really swollen, so I went downstairs and taken some ibruofen and sucked on some ice, rinsed my mouth out with mouthwash and watched TV, for the remainder of the day my tongue continued to ache constantly no matter how much ibruofen I taken.
I continued to rinse my mouth out with anti septic mouth wash after every cigerette, morning and evening (I was told to rinse my mouth out after food to, but I was not interested in food nor could I eat it) I went to bed and had quite a restless night.
Again I was woken up in the morning by the pain, my tongue had got even bigger and more painful, I went to the chemist to get some stronger painkillers, witch helped a little bit but still really sore (there's a reason for that and ill explain a bit later)
I just sat around the house for the whole day, my throat was really sore as well as my tongue had swollen quite a lot, carried on cleaning it and taking pain killers and sucking on ice.
The next morning and the swelling had gone down quite considerably but there was still a lot of pain, I decided to look in the mirror, the top looked ok a bit of discharge but looked fine, I then lifted my tongue and it was red raw, bleeding and bruised with teeth marks all over it.
I thought I might have bitten my tongue in the night, I decided to go to the piercing shop, my piercer was really helpful and had a look, she said it could have been where my tongue had swollen up and the bottom of my tongue was rubbing against my lower teeth, she told me to continue using salt water but only twice a day, as she said I have been cleaning my mouth to much, witch isn't good as it wipes away the good bacteria, and that my tongue will start to return to its normal size soon and hopefully the wound on the bottom of my tongue will have a chance to heal.
So I went home and took some painkillers and hoped the pain would ease soon, when the evening come the pain was quite server again (by this time I was ready to take the bar out and never put my self thought that again) but I did hang on in there and just slept.
The next morning I woke up and there was hardly any pain (to my relive) I looked in the mirror and the swelling had reduced dramatically, I was able to eat again and was over the moon.
The bottom of my tongue as ached a bit today (but nothing in comparison to the last few days) I'm so relived it isn't constantly rubbing up against my teeth, and that I can eat again.
I've still got a slimy tongue and it will not go away no matter how much I brush it, but I can live with that for the time being.
I'm now starting to enjoy my piercing and just relived the last few days are behind me, I can honestly say this piercing would have been quite easy if it wasn't for the fact the bottom of my tongue had become so sore, would I do it again - no chance , after this I have made a promise to my self, no more piercing no more tattoos.
