I'm afraid of needles and it wasn't that bad.

Alright let me say that I have wanted my belly button done since I was 13 or 14. Where I live you HAVE to be 16 even with a parent, so I got my mom to agree to let me do it on my 16th birthday. I didn't get to because I ended up going to Texas for a week during my birthday.

I waited a few months until like September 2007 before I brought it up and again and I was dead set on getting it done. Well I began working at a restaurant and I am pretty short and just where my belly button is I would bump it on the counters, I didn't want to take the chance of getting the ring ripped out or something. So a few more months I waited.

Finally, in March 2008 I came across a web site on accident it was a piercing place near where I lived. I told my mom about it and the web site said you can come for a free tour so we went and they were so nice and CLEAN. I felt really comfortable there and my mom and I decided that we would come back after I picked up my paycheck which would be March 27. I anxiously awaited for about a week and the day had finally come, I was actually going to go through with it.

We picked up my check and arrived at Immaculate. I was so nervous and I was shaking a little bit. I picked out my ring, a curved barbell with a green stone. I paid after I picked out my ring and they told me it would be a few minutes because she had to sterilize everything. My mom read over the papers and signed them, we waited a bit longer and then Sarah called us in the room.

Sarah was real nice and told me everything that was going to happen before it happened and she said she would let me know what was going on every step. She cleaned my navel once and then marked it. I looked in the mirror to make sure they were fine and it looked perfect already. She cleaned it one more time after I said I liked the placement. Now she said I could lay down for the rest of the procedure. I was VERY nervous and I cry when I get shots at the doctor but I was determined to do this!

I laid down and she showed my mom and I how everything was packaged and sterile. She changed her gloves and washed her hands again. I didn't see it but mom said she changed them like 2 or 3 times so I was happy to hear that because it is more sterile. She said it would be a second to get everything together and unwrap them and then when she walked over to me she said that she will have everything she needs in her hands so she won't have to go back and forth.

I saw her walking towards me and she had EVERYTHING in her hands, which was nice because that meant I wouldn't have to sit there with a needle in my stomach for 2 minutes while she found the ring. She told me everything she was doing, she put the clamps on and said don't worry I'm just lining up the needle I won't put it in yet. I felt the needle touch my skin and I was just thinking Oh no this is going to hurt. I grabbed my moms hand and became very interested in the ceiling.

Sarah told me to take a deep breath in and when I let it out I would be done. I breathed in, held it for a second and let it out. It hurt a bit, like a stinging pinch but it didn't really feel like a needle to me. She put it in so quick it was like half a second. Then she told me she was putting the ring in, it hurt a tiny bit not much. She screwed the ball on really tight and I was done! She told me to lay done for a second and breath so I wouldn't pass out. I got up, looked in the mirror and I was IN LOVE! I thanked her and gave her a $5 tip.

Now let me say that they told me all of their aftercare stuff before I got pierced and gave me everything I would need to clean it. I was told to use the Satin soap once a day in the shower and do sea salt soaks at least twice a day for 15 minutes.

They told us we had to sit in the lobby for about 5 minutes to make sure I didn't faint and that I was feeling okay and I liked that because it showed me they actually care about there customers, we sat there for a few and then we left. I was so happy I finally got it done and I didn't chicken out!

It was pretty sore for the first week or two but it was well worth it. I am a stomach sleeper and it was rough sleeping on my back for a while. I have been cleaning it like I'm supposed, it has been 1 month and I have had no problems with it. I just can't wait until it is completely healed.
