I was really surprised when my dad said I could have my navel pierced, as his first choice of age for me was 17. To this day he still won't tell what made him change his mind, but hey, at least I have my beloved piercing now!
My appointment was set for 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon. I got there and it was almost like I thought it would be except it was quite small and crowded. Good thing I'm not claustrophobic. They called me and my dad up so I can choose my jewellery and my mum could sign the permission slips. I didn't have much of a choice but I was stuck between picking the red or light purple barbell. I asked the manager, Bob, what he thought would be better and he said it's my own personal decision so I just went for the purple.
The place was crowded with Goths and skaters and a few blonde bimbos but I was the youngest there so it felt kind of awkward. My mum would've come with us inside but when he saw all the Goths he immediately ran off literally. I was pretty comfortable actually as everyone was really nice.
They ran a bit late so I only ended up getting my piercing at 3pm instead of 2. Hailey explained all the procedures with my mum and me and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. Firstly she marked it which got pretty annoying because it practically took her 10 minutes and I was getting extremely impatient but I had no choice but to deal with it. She then put on the numbing gel and talked to us for a while to wait for it to sooth into my body. After the gel soothed in she told me to lie on a table and pull my shirt up.
She said that the clamp is the most uncomfortable part and when she put it on it pinched me and it kind of hurt a bit. She then told me she's going to put the needle through in 3 counts. She did as she said and the needle entered me slowly. It kind of hurt because she said on the third count when she's going to put the needle through I should take a deep breath in. Since the needle went in so slowly I couldn't breathe for a few seconds as I was still holding my breath.
Anyway, I didn't hurt as much as I thought it would but whoever says it doesn't hurt is totally lying. The worst part for me was when she put the jewellery through. It hurt so much my eyes started watering up, I didn't cry though. But after all that was done I couldn't believe I actually went through with it.
I was really scared though because there was this guy in the room next to mine getting his nipple pierced. He was so psyched except for the fact that his girlfriend doesn't want him to get it. Anyway, he was screaming worse than a newborn baby when the needle went through and he started cursing and swearing and pounding the table in pain. I didn't get to see his face afterwards but I swear he was crying!
I'm so proud of myself because all my mates who had their navels pierced got all infected within a month, mine is in for more than a month and I've never seen anything more beautiful and infection-free!
People who say piercings are addictive really know what they're talking about. Even though I got hurt through this procedure I can't wait to get my tragus pierced and I also might consider getting a double conch piercing or maybe another belly ring. Anything really! And I really want tattoos as well; I've even decided where I want them and what the patterns should be. Like I want a black Chinese symbol on my left shoulder blade, which has to mean something like love or lust or peace on kinky or something tacky like that. Then I want a small silver 3D Celtic cross on my left wrist and a red rose with dark green thorny spirals coming out of it on my lower back.
And another piercing I really really really want are the piercings diagonally next to your navel piercing, on your stomach. If you don't know what I'm talking about just go to www.myspace.com/u/gaygod and look at his pictures where he has rainbow boxers on and you'll have to agree that that is the sexiest piercing ever apart from belly rings!
If you need to know anything or want to ask me anything or have some advice on what other piercings i can get or ideas for tattoos or simply just to talk, email me kay?
