Metal through my tummy

first off I'm a 14 year old girl who has wanted my navel pierced for 2 years now. I know that a lot of people think that it's trendy and all that..but my family has had this rule that when you turn 15 you can start getting your piercings. As my dad likes to get such things at Ocean City during our yearly trip there, he decided that since my birthday is only a few days away that it'd be okay to bend the rule a little. So there I am in searching around for the best place to get it done at, when I come across a little place w/ very nice looking guys sitting outside talking. I tell them I'm interested in getting my navel pierced, so two of them take me inside to go over it all. Now, I have a very low tolerance for pain, so I ask them how much it'll hurt and they say that I can definately handle it since I have my ears full of metal. So he shows me the standard hoop and I show him my bellybutton and say that I think a curved barbell would look better. He agrees, and I picked out a silver 1/2inch 12 g. one. He asks to make sure I don't want a 14 g. one, but I want it to look bigger, and don't want anything to happen to it. If you're considering getting your pierced, don't choose anything smaller than a 14 g. because somehting is more likely to happen to the ring. I've already gotten my info. on getting it streched so i can put in a 10g. a dneventually a 8g. However, I couldn't really get any more options for the balls on the end,(I wanted a teal stone to rest just inside my belly, but it wasn't available as a piercer, or something) but once it heals I can change it to whatever I want so I guess that's ok. So the guy I've been talking to asks the other guy, Nathan, if he wants to do it, and he says yea!. So he leads me into this all white and clean....almost sickeningly so...room and cleans all of the stuff he needs and sets it out. He tells me to stand up and he puts a little dot on my belly and asks if that'll be ok. It looked fine, but I made sure and asked to make it deep cuz there's noo way I'm gonna go through w/ this only to have it grow out on me. He laughs and says ok, and I lie down on the medical chair type thing and tell him please not to hurt me. He said he made it a point not to hurt pretty girls....aww, how cute. he put me completely at ease. So he's got his gloves on and he tells me to take a deep breath and exhale when I felt the needle into me . He kept on coaching my breathing throughout it (I felt like I was in lamaze class or something!) and before I knew it it was done. No blood, no passing out, nothing! I looked down at my freshly pierced tummy and it looked soo cool. Cuz it's not all cutesy like the little rings that everyone has. I was very happy, and so surprised at the lack of pain. He told me how to clean it and all that, and handed me his card and told me to call him if I needed anything. I'm definately going to him when I get my brow done in a few. After effects: I do have to say that it can be a little sore at times afterwards..not painful, but what do you expect? Make sure and clean it very well...saline solution woks miracles for me. I did get a little of the goo and the crusties, but using dial soap in the shower everyday cleans that, and then soaking cotton balls with the saline solution on it when you wake up and before you go to sleep will keep it from getting infected. Just make sure to take care of it, cuz what's the point of paying the money and going through getting it pierced to simply have to take it out due to an infection? All in all, it's soo very worth it. If you're considering it, don't even think twice, it looks great, doesn't hurt...you've got nothing to loose. Just make sure that the place you go to you feel comfortable w/ the staff and all that. I'm completely satisfied, and would recomend to those wanting it to get it done professionally...no sense in going through the pain to have it mess up (and even if it doens't hurt if you do it yourself, if you mess up, you could be left with an ugly looking scar) And if you're in Ocean City sometime, make sure and stop by pittbull piercing and check them out. Don't let the name faze you :)
