Vertical Labret @ Eye of the Lotus
If you ever consider getting a piercing, I HIGHLY recommend going to Eye of the Lotus. This place is clean, professional and VERY friendly. (And good prices and work too!)
I've been wanting to get a facial piercing for about 5 years now and been debating on either a tongue or a labret. I'm still planning on getting my tongue done, but I wanted to get something done that you could see for now.
Anyway, I'm usually not the greatest with needles (blood tests make me queezy) but I've gotten two tattoos not that long ago
(a quick note: I got my first one when I was 18 at Raptor Tattoo and I HATE it there. The owner which tattooed me was really impatient, rude and mean to me (he made fun of me when I started to turn white) and pretty much made me feel like I was an inconvenience to him - the second one I got in Los Angeles at Art & Soul, which they were pretty good.
I also got my belly button done when I was 16 at Dragon FX, which turned out pretty bad. Had to take it out after about 6 months since she pierced way too much skin, and it ended up growing overtop of the top ball almost. I had no idea what to do, and I would've gone back there, but she didn't give me any advice about coming back in if things went wrong, and that was my first body mod, so I had no idea what to do, unfortunately. I just got a card that explained aftercare and I was on my way.
So after trying to find more info on Eye of the Lotus, it sounded like a pretty good place, so I went there yesterday after work. There wasn't any people there so it was my turn right away. To tell the truth, I was quite nervous. The worst was before I went because it was a countdown in terms of time until I get the piercing. But once I got into the room, I calmed right down once Aaron started talking to me. Anyway, the whole place seemed EXTREMELY clean. I was greeted by a guy named Aaron at the front counter where I told him what I wanted, etc. I asked him if I could get it done at a 16 gauge, but he told me he didn't have any 16 gauge jewellery, and recommended a 14 gauge anyway since that was the normal, so I went with a 14 - which I'm glad he did. So he went back to set up. After a few minutes he came back and told me he was ready, and I found out he would be the one to pierce me. He led me back to a room that looked almost like a dentists' office with a personal touch to it, because it was so clean. I sat down, and during the time that he was setting up everything and putting his gloves on, he was smiling, talking and joking around with me, which was awesome. It really calmed my nerves. He really took his time and was very gentle, so it put me at ease. He started to plan where the piercing was going to be, telling me what he was going to do, handed me some mouth wash to swish with, changed his gloves again after cleaning my mouth around the area, (which impressed me so much because of his clean habits) then told me to close my eyes. Literally, that was the worst part. Not knowing when the needle was going through really made me nervous, but I didn't want to see it. The clamp didn't hurt at all. He pierced me going from the top thru to the bottom. It pinched me a little bit, and that was it. It looked awesome! He then sat with me up at the front desk and talked thoroughly about aftercare and also about coming in or calling if there were any problems or if I had any questions. I paid, and that was it. I was absolutely thrilled! He did an amazing job, and I've never been happier.
The piercing itself now is just a bit sore, and barely swollen, just a little on the inside. I keep wanting to wipe my face because it feels weird having something on my lip. It hasn't bled or anything really. It's a little difficult to eat, which I have to do it carefully, but other than that, I love it. I love Aaron for my piercing, and will always trust him with any of my next piercings as well. If you are considering this piercing, it's not really that painful (coming from a bit of a wimp!). Just a pinch, like many others. Eye of the Lotus owns!
