Getting My Labret Pierced.
oth me and my friend were into body piercing, but I wanted something different. Not to many people have they're labrets pierced where I live, so I thought I would get it done. Also, I loved how it looked.
November 15, 1997.
I met my friend downtown where she worked, and we headed over to the local body piercing and Tattoo place (D & M, Fort McMurray, Alberta.) I was a nervous wreck because I thought it was gonna hurt really bad. We went down the stairs, and let the piercer know that we came in for the 4:30 appointment (my friend was getting her second eyebrow ring) and he said it would be about 5-10 minutes because he was finishing up a tattoo. We sat down and my friend looked thru the many tattoo magazines on the table. Those 10 minutes seemed to take forever. But finally he finished the tattoo and asked me what I was having pierced. I told him I wanted my labret done, and he said that they were easy to do and it would only take a couple minutes. I signed a few forms and paid him. Then we went into the back room where he asked me to sit on a chair that was facing him. He cleaned and preped the needle and the labret stud. While I sat in the chair totally terrified. What I found kind of odd, was that he never marked where he was going to pierce me, nor ask me how high or low I wanted it. Oh well I was too freaked out to speak. He put these little clamps on my bottom lip, and pulled my lip out so it was horizontal. He told me to take a deep breath, and I grabbed my friends hand. Before he put the needle thru I went totally white (or so my friend told me). I took a deep breath as he pushed the needle thru my lip. I made a little noise when it pierced the skin, but other than that it was totally painless. Even the first pinch didn't hurt that much. He left the needle in half way then connected the front of the labret stud (14 gauge) to the back of the needle and pulled it thru. He then screwed the ball on and I was done. I couldn't believe I just did that. I got such a cool adrenaline rush, I can't explain it. I walked over to the mirror in a complete daze, it felt like a weird dream. I looked and checked it, and it was perfect. My lip already started to swell a bit. My friend got her eyebrow done (her 4th piercing) and we headed out. I had to go meet my family for dinner.
I arrived at dinner and my parents just gave me that look, as if to say, I can't believe you went thru with it. Eating was especially fun. The back of the stud kept on hooking on my teeth and it was weird always having something in my mouth. But other than that, I felt no pain at all while eating. But I got made fun of a lot since piercing isn't common in my town.
The next few days were a bit uncomfortable, trying to brush my teeth, and eating. But the swelling went down after a week, and I went back to get a shorter stud in.
I've had it for almost 10 months now and I still love it. I really should stop playing with it when I'm bored tho, cuz I always flick it with my tongue, etc. but I'm very happy with it.
Now, I'm looking into getting my tongue web pierced, but my parents said no more piercing, so I think I'm going to have to wait until I'm 18 :o)
