I decided I wanted my anti-eyebrow pierced after seeing a few pictures of them on this web site, and others. I fell in love with the piercing right away and decided I had to have it done. After much more research I asked my mum, she said yes, so I rang up the piercing studio and made an appointment.
I had already had my lip and ears pierced a few times at New Image piercing studio so I decided to go back there as they had always been clean and really helpful in the past.
When I got there it turned out they had me booked in for an eyebrow piercing. So I had to wait a bit for the piercer who could do an anti-eyebrow to come back from her lunch break.
I had never seen an anti-eyebrow on anyone else in person so I was a bit scared about getting it done, but to my relief, my piercer had just recently had hers done in the last week, so she talked me through it great, and it really eased my nerves.
First she walked me into the piercing room and got me to lay down on the bench/bed type thing.
She talked me through the procedure and asked if I wanted small or large balls on the bar, i chose the smaller ones. Next she asked how i wanted it positioned, horizontal or vertical and how high or low. I chose it horizontal and pretty close to the bone near my eye socket. She showed me the bar and it was fairly small and had a curve in it, kind of like a belly button one but smaller.
I was getting bit nervous but trying not to focus on it too much.
So, next she sterilized the area, and put on the clamp, which was actually the most painful part of the whole experience, gave me a nice black eye for about a week!!
But it wasn't too painful really, then she got me to breath in, and out and as i did so, she stuck the needle in. Now felt really really strange, not all that painful, just odd. She asked how I was doing and I said fine. Next she inserted the bar and screwed on the balls, which was a bit painful, as the balls were so small they were very hard to get on.
It was over REALLY quickly, and it was more of a headache kind of pain rather than a normal piercing one in my opinion. I had a nice black eye for about a week, but I absolutely loved the piercing!!
I cleaned it frequently with a salt water solution and it healed up nicely.
Because of the spot it was in i had to get used to looking out for it. When I put on t-shirts and tops I had to get make sure I didn't get it hooked on it, as it hurt quite a bit!!
Same went for when I went to concerts, making sure that it didn't get ripped out or anything, but it didn't so it was alright =)
I got a lot of odd comments on it, some really quite rude, but others positive, it didn't really worry me though as i got it for myself, not them. I loved the piercing, every time I looked in the mirror I thought how cool it looked, sounds kind of vein, but i did.
Also when I looked down I could see a little sparkle in the corner of my eye.
I got in a lot of trouble for having it at school, which was pretty crappy as they had never cared about my piercings in the past. I had to cover it with a band aid for a few days, So i put bright pink ones on it, and after a while they said i could just wear it normally as if looked better than a bright pink bandaid on my face.
After about 5months of having this piercing, i noticed the skin on the bar getting smaller, and the bar was showing a bit more, I was in denial for a bit, but I knew what was happening.i went back and asked my piercer and she informed me it was growing out, which was quite common. I was very upset but decided to take it out to avoid bad scarring. I probably could have kept it a bit longer, but I really didn't want any infection or bad scarring so I decided it would be best If i just took it out, so i did.
It has been about a month or so now since I have taken it out, and you can only see a few tiny dots of where it was, Im considering getting it done again on the other side of my face.
I miss it a lot, but it was great while it lasted!!
