My favorite piercing almost didn't happen
Ever since I was young I've loved piercings. By the time I was 11 I had 3 holes in each earlobe and 2 cartilage piercings.
When I was 14 I got my belly button pierced, the moment I stood up after, I knew I would be getting more piercings. When I was 16 I got my eyebrow pierced and when I was 18 I got my tongue. My eyebrow is by far my favorite, it was the least painful and I get tons of compliments on it.
When I was 16 I actually wanted my labret pierced but my mom really didn't want me to for some reason, so she said I could get my eyebrow done, being the stubborn 16 year old I was, I wasn't going to quit trying for the labret but eventually I realized it was my eyebrow or nothing. So I guess I have my mom to thank for talking me into getting what turned out to be my favorite piercing.
Now was the task of finding the funds for it. It cost 65 dollars and I had to save up for a few weeks but I did it. And I think that's how my mom knew I really wanted it because usually when comes to saving my money it doesn't go very well.
So my mom and I went to Chicago Tattoo Factory, which is where I got my belly button pierced, and later my tongue. Its a great shop, very nice staff, clean and very good prices.
I was a little nervous but my piercer did a great job at making me relaxed. He explained exactly how everything was going to go. And he was very nice and kinda cute too, so that helped. ha ha.
You go and sit in a nice comfy chair, kinda like the one at the dentist. The piercer puts a dot on top of your eyebrow and one under, then shows you in the mirror to make sure you are happy with the placement. Then they take all the tools for the piercing out of plastic in front of you so you can see that everything is sterile. Then they pull out and hold your eyebrow with a clamp and push the needle through and then pull the needle out and put the jewelry in.
I have to say that getting my eyebrow pierced is virtually painless. I felt the slightest pinch and then nothing. The whole thing lasted about 45 seconds. The only time I felt any pain was over the next few days I would wake up after sleeping on that side of my face and it hurt a bit but not for long. I also had a headache the next day but I could have just had a headache and it had nothing to do with the piercing, I don't know. The piercing was tender for about a week or two but not painful.
The best way to let it heal would be to leave it in without removing it for as long a you possibly can. I have a friend who was taking it out and putting it back in about a month or so after getting and it got very infected. I left mine in for about 4 months before taking it out and changing it and by that time it was completely healed.
I should add to be very careful when getting your haircut or eyebrows waxed. When my hair stylist was brushing my hair to get it ready for cutting she nearly ripped my piercing out and I told her to watch it and 5 minutes later she would forget and do it again. I've had this problem with many stylist so now I just take my hoop out before I sit down to get my hair cut. And if you go to get your eyebrows waxed they'll probably ask you to take it out and if its a fairly new piercing that's not too good of an idea.
The piercings very easy to care for, just clean it while your in the shower with antibacterial soap. Dial works great. I've had my eyebrow pierced for 4 years now and I have had no problems at all with it. Right now I have a small hoop in it and I get a lot of compliments on how pretty it looks.
So for anyone who is considering getting your eyebrow pierced I strongly recommend it. As long as your responsible with it and follow the after care instructions the piercer gives you, it will fine. I am always trying to get my friends to get piercings. I've turned into like a spokesperson for it. ha ha. My piercings are a part of me, they show my personality and who I am. Its a great form of self expression. But don't be surprised if many more piercings follow, piercing can be very addictive, ha ha. I just turned 20 and I going to get my side of my lip pierced very soon.
