My first real piercing, my eyebrow!
Figure I might as well give some background information before I tell you about the piercing. I'm fourteen, and all I had pierced before my eyebrow was my ears. My friend Sierra (IAM: ConcreteAngel), is pretty big on body modification though, and she's been bugging me to get an IAM account, so I might as well give this a shot.
I've been wanting my eyebrow pierced for quite a while, but I was always afraid of my mom's reaction if I asked her, so I didn't ask. Then, one night, I finally managed to work up the nerve to ask. And, much to my surprise, she said yes! I was so incredibly happy! But, seeing as I wanted to keep it s surprise, I didn't tell any of my friends except for Sarah.
So, a few weeks later, my mom set me up an appointment at Studio. I'd heard some pretty good things about this shop, so I figured "Why not?!" So, a few days before March break finished, my mom, Sarah, and I set off for Studio.
The car ride over was the worst. I kept worrying about the pain factor. I've heard that it would hurt a lot, because it's so close to your eye. So, once we got to the shop, I practically flew out of the car and into the shop. My mom came in, and told the piercer we had an appointment. The guy (sorry, didn't catch his name) told me to come into the back. So, I grabbed Sarah and came into the piercing room.
The room was really clean looking, and in the middle of the room was the dentist chair that I heard so much about. I sat down, while the piercer began setting up. He made the markings, and asked if they were okay with me. I didn't like the placement, so I asked him if it could be a tiny bit more forward. He washed off the marks and re-did them. This time, they were perfect! So, I agreed, he changed his gloves again, and put on the clamps.
By this time I was too worried about the pain factor to really think about anything else. But, I've heard a lot of people say the clamps are the worst part. I hardly felt them! But maybe that was just because I was focusing on other things at that time. Then the piercer told me to start counting to 3, and on 3 he would pierce.
So, I started counting in my head, and on three I felt the needle go through. I don't have a very high pain tolerance, so to me it hurt pretty badly. One a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, I'd give it a 5. But while the needle was still in my eyebrow and the piercer was getting the jewellery, Sarah decided to trick me and said "It's okay Lua, the jewellerys in now!" So, of course, I opened my eyes. And what do I see? A huge freaking needle hanging over my eye!! Okay, I'm exaggerating. It wasn't huge, it only looked huge because it was right over my eye. So that freaked me out a little, and I closed my eyes again.
Then I felt a little bit of a pinch, and the piercer said the jewellery was in. I opened my eyes a tiny bit, and sure enough, there was no big needle hanging over my eye. So, I got up and looked in the mirror. It was perfect in everyway! I loved it! The piercer gave me the aftercare instructions, and my mom paid the $55. I skipped out of the shop and into the car.
So, three days afterwards school started up again, and I was so excited to show off my piercing! Most people just asked if it hurt or not, which got sort of annoying after a while. I got a lot of compliments on it though, and how it suited my face. Even my mom was happy about it.
My aftercare was pretty simple. Take anti-bacterial soap and clean around it, and a month later I'd be able to change the bar. So, I carefully followed these instructions, and after a month I changed the bar. But, much to my dismay, the piercing still wasn't healed, and began rejecting shortly after that.
Three months later(this month) my eyebrow got infected, because it still wasn't healed, and my mom made me take it out with the promise of getting my labret done instead. So, grudgingly, I removed my beautiful eyebrow piercing. But, next month, Sierra's taking me to get my Labret done when she gets her Horizontal Eyebrow. I'm so excited to have it done! And my mom also said something about me getting my other eyebrow pierced instead, so I'm looking forward to that too. Anyways, thanks for reading my experience!
Happy piercing everyone!
