My eyebrow piercing

I always wanted my eyebrow pierced. Ever since I was about 11 years old. I loved the way it looks on anybody, and it was a little more unique then getting your ears pierced or belly button pierced. My mom was absolutely dead set against me getting it. She always told me that when I turn 18 I could get it, figuring that by the time I turned 18 I would be over that whole phaze in my life where I wanted a tattoo and/or piercing. At the time 18 seemed like a long ass time away, but as it usually does, time flew (thanks to all of the piercings I got that I could actually hide from my mother, held me over until I could get the one I really wanted) and before I knew it I was turning 18, and still wanted my eyebrow pierced (much to my mothers dismay).

It was the day I turned 18 and it was time for me to go get pierced. I did my research, read the horror stories and successes and I felt like I was ready to deal with whatever came my way. What's the worst that could happen right? I went to the piercing place w/ 2 of my friends. They gave me some papers to sign and explained the whole process of everything and then took me in the back room. Everything was very clean and professional which made me feel a lot better. I was a little nervous, but I am not the kind of person to freak out over 1 second of pain so for the most part I was pretty comfortable. He then sat me down, marked up where the holes were going to be and then he clamped it and pierced me! Not going to lie, there was an uncomfortable 2 seconds while he stuck the needle through, but honestly it was 2 seconds and then I felt fine. After he was done, I got right up with no feeling of lightheadedness or dizziness at all. The rest of the night I felt fine. The piercing did not hurt at all, just a little sensative when you touched it which should be expected. It was honestly the most painless initial piercing I have ever gotten (I had my toungue, nose, bellybutton, ears, etc.). I then followed all directions given to me and took great care of it. It was healing ok, but you don't realize how hard of a spot it is to avoid irritating it. For example, one day I got out of the shower and while I was trying to dry my hair off, the towel got caught on it and it pulled the eyebrow ring from the botton (I had a bar). THAT HURT BAD. Also, working at a daycare at the time with a bunch of 2 year olds did not help the situation. I got head butted at least once a week, and it would start bleeding and get swollen. Whenever it got hit, I made sure I cleaned it and took really good care of it until it got better. Until one day about a year after I got it, it got REALLY infected for no reason. It honestly looked like there was a marble under the bottom hole. I tried to get it better on my own, but eve

ntually one day I went to work, and my boss made me leave and go to the doctor next door because it looked so bad. The doctor said that I had to take it out, and he gave me antibiotics for it. It hurt really bad and was very sensative for a while.

Now all I have is two little scars of where the holes were, reminding me of my eyebrow ring. I still think about getting another one since I now have an office job, but unfotunately I think most of the jobs that have no risk of you hitting it, will not allow you to have it! I loved the way it looked and still love the way it looks on people. It is definitely one of my favorite piercings, and I think I had a bad experience with it because it got hit and irritated a lot. So if you want it, go for it! It is one of the least painful piercings to get (unless it gets badly infected). Just think about daily activities and possibly where you work because if it is going to get hit a lot, I definitly recommend not getting it. Believe me I am not a baby with pain at all, but when you get hit, it hurts bad and it will take a while to heal completely. Just something to keep in mind. It is worth getting, but just take my advice and be careful when you have it because even if you clean it regularly, it could still get badly infected if it gets irritated enough. It's a sensative spot and I didn't realize that until I had it.
