Just another normal Sunday?
Well it was a normal Sunday afternoon and I had taken the trip to Toronto with Marty just to hang out because he had to suspend a girl with the IWasCured suspension team. I thought it really amazing that this girl was hanging and her parents had taken the trip from the States with her. You could see that this was a very important event for the girl. She bought a dress and everything for it. The skies did not look too promising and during her suspension, it started to rain. By the end of her suspension, all of us watching were soaked. I don't think it bothered her too much though, it was not cold or anything, it was just really wet. Actually I think if I were to hang, I would enjoy the rain... We went for lunch and venturing back to Shannon's place, Marty asked me if I wanted to do a pull since we did have time and it was a private gathering. I had watched a bunch of suspensions and pulling in the few months before that and I was actually quite interested in it. The first time I saw anything like it was at the July 1st BBQ at Shannon's. At first I didn't know what to think. Then I got curious. AT the July 1st BBQ I got to take part in a suspension because during the filming for TLC when Marty hung, he lifted me also. Taking everything I had seen, the curiosity that I had toward suspension and pulling and the urge to be adventurous and try something new, I said yes. We had to wait for all of the equipment to be returned from Phil's place since we had returned it, thinking that the rain wouldn't stop I didn't know exactly how it was going to feel because when Joey was pinching my back, it hurt and I expected that the piercing part would be the worst of it. I was really expecting it to be quite painful. I had watched other people get pierced before and heard other people say that they hated getting pierced. I took a couple of deep breaths and sat down in the chair. Then I hunched over a little bit while a few members of IWasCured prepped my back. At this point I was getting nervous. Next thing I know... Big Breath in, Big breath out, Big Breath in, and out... The piercing was done. Same went again for the second hook: Big breath in, big breath out, Big breath in and out. I didn't expect it to be so smooth and easy. It was not painful at all. It was just as painful as getting a normal piercing and the odd part about this is that they use bigger needles.
Next, they prepped my partner Marty. His prepping took longer since he was suspending later on just for a little fun but he agreed to pull against me to give me the experience. Let me just let you all know that he does weigh about seventy pounds more than I do. The final step before the pulling started was for us to be bound together by the ropes. This was a quick and easy process... I took a couple of steps forward, Joey being my coach and started to lean in. It was an uncomfortable feeling at first but it was a feeling that you get used to very quickly. I experimented with a few things and pulled a few different ways and I had a little bit of trouble with the leaning because I thought that I would fall. I then realized that there were hooks in my back and that Marty would now let me fall. Marty was being a little bit hard on me as well. He kept telling me to pull. In actuality I was but I don't think my weight affected him very much. I am not a very heavy person! The last thing I did was attempt to beat him in a game of tug-o-war but that didn't work out very well, instead Joey grabbed my arms and pulled me with his weight. Joey is very strong so he won it for me! After we were done, my hooks were taken out and the air was removed from my back and everything was fine. I sat back and watched Marty fly in the sky! The area on my back where the hooks were was a little tender for a few days and I had to pop the air bubbles a couple of times but other then that, I am left with a few little scars and a whole bunch of memories! I was really glad that got to experience my first pulling among friends. It was an excellent experience and I hope to do a suspension one day...
