My first self-done brand

Since as far back as I can remember I have been extremely fascinated with body modification, and wanted many of my own. I have my ears pierced and stretched to a 0g and growing, a helix stud, and a lip ring. I my newest interest has been with scarification, and branding. I do all of my own modification's because I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that I receive when it's done, and I would like to work as a piercer or tattoo artist in the future. Recently I got the idea to try a brand on myself, just wasn't sure on what or exactly how to do so. So I have researched on sites on how to go through with it, and finally decided to last night on what I was going to get. The design I finally decided on was a simple five point star.

I have problems sleeping at night so preparing what I was going to use. I collected from our basement a metal wire about two millimeters thick, a pair of vice grips, and a small torch to heat the wire. I cut off the wire at about six inches long and bent it so I could hold one end of the wire, and get even amounts of pressure when I am applying it to my skin. I cleaned the wire by scrubbing it with alcohol then letting it sit while I got a little bit of sleep.

When I woke up around 12:00 I was ready to go through with my burning. So I shaved the area that I wanted it at (which was below my belt off to the right side) and rubbed with alcohol. Then I got my rubber gloves and the wire set in the flame of the torch and watched it heat up. I waited anxiously for the metal to become hot enough so I could start my design. All the while preparing me mentally for the pain that I was sure would come. I also made sure of the positioning of my drawing on my skin and was positive it was how I wanted it.

So I pulled the metal out of the flame where it had turned into and orange color and held it over the first line I wanted and pressed it into my skin. The surprise of the sharp pain that shot into my skin and I could feel it through my whole body. My instincts told me to pull the scolding metal away form my skin, so I pushed it in harder. I could hear the sizzle of my skin and the smoke rise from my burning flesh. I didn't notice the smell that everyone has talked about; I guess I was just in too much of a rush. It was intense and I was so pumped to do the next line. So I proceeded with almost the same process, except this time I knew what to expect. This one however was a little more painful but I still loved the intensity of my feeling and the instant redness and swelling of my skin. I got a major adrenalin rush from this and I think I went into a little bit of shock, because I started shaking really bad and had to use both my arms now to keep it still while it was burning .

The fourth and fifth burns were the easiest to do because my skin was almost numb at this point and I was high on adrenalin. After the five lines I made to design a star, I went back and re-did one line because it didn't completely connect and touched up another corner. I hope I got deep enough into my skin because I want this to work out really well. I think I may do a little bit more touching up in the next few days just so I can reach perfection with my brand.

For my healing process I am choosing to irritate it by scrubbing it with alcohol and/or peroxide, with a stiff toothbrush. I know not the best way but its working well so far. Then I cover with gauze and tape down just as if it were a cut. I always pick at my scabs so this is no different, I like doing it just to see what happens. The first time I irritated it was moments ago. I peeled off the dead burnt skin and blisters, which reminded me of sunburn. Then I wiped up juices from the blisters that dripped everywhere. Next I put alcohol on it which of course stung but nothing major, and scrubbed with a toothbrush until it was raw and started to bleed.

I enjoy the pain that I have overcome in this experience, which usually leads people thinking I am weird. I'm ok with that because it doesn't really bother me. I am proud of my brand and the fact that I did it on my own, and its mine. It is unsafe to do these types of procedures on my own with no experience, so if you are new to this I suggest that you get it professionally done. If you do not have access to get it done professionally weather it be your not 18 or don't have the money like myself, at least try and be as sterile as possible.

The next thing I want to try is suspension. I really think that would be an awesome experience as well but I will probably have to be 18 for that. If you have any information on this topic please feel free to contact me via E-mail, ([email protected]) or by AIM (ademoninsideme). Thank you.
