One Piercing, Two Piercing...Second Holes Anyone?

Hi. My name is Kitty. And I've wanted my second holes done since I was eleven. Now, I know what you're thinking--this is some boring, stupid, typical little girl writing about her wittle eaw piewcing...right? Not so much--you have to know the story BEHIND the second holes.

I first pierced my second holes when I was eleven--and my cartilage as well. (That's a different story, however...) I took them out three days later when my mom noticed them at McDonalds. She wasn't angry--and I could have easily kept them in. But I was a goodie two shoes and that was a little extreme for me. So I removed them.

Fast forward a second cartilage ear piercing that was infected for a long time and to stretching my ears (I'll get to that later.) and piercing them the second time.

I want to say that first of all--I was an idiot when I stretched my ears. I did the research, learned what I could. But, like a dummy, I thought I could tweak a few thing or get around them. The result? Second earlobes and stretched first holes that were slowly becoming infected. So what did I do?

Well, naturally, I removed the second holes. They weren't doing as bad as my first holes, but I knew I couldn't take care of them all at once. It just couldn't happen and I wasn't going to risk holes that I'd had since I was two months old for holes I'd had for a week.

So you're probably wondering--how did I pierce these holes? The same way as any other dumb kid: I used the earrings themselves.

Which brings me to round three of my earlobe piercings--and what I hope is my last round.

It started out that I was going to pierce my septum. I ordered 16 ga sterilized piercing needles (not from ebay.) and I did. It was as crooked as a hooker's right titty. I tried to keep it...but I looked at it and realized that it wasn't going to heal. It wasn't through the cartilage--but it was going through the very tip top of the fleshy part right under the sweet spot. I took it out and decided to retry it.

Well, my nose was feeling great after a day (I was amazed.) and I decided to try it again. I got everything set up, cleaned out my nose, pulled the needle out of the pack...and froze. I just couldn't do it. I was so scared of getting it crooked again and accidentally going through cartilage this time. So, what did I do?

I grabbed my marker that I'd used to try and mark things out in my nose and then drew a dot on my ear and then another on the other in the exact same place. I then grabbed a new needle since the first one was sweaty (I was that nervous) and shoved it through. It went in perfectly and the jewelry threaded through just as well. I might have lost the needle for a second through the back, but it still went through.

Then came the second hole. As you can imagine, I have a lot of scar tissue in my ears. The first ear wasn't that painful, but I knew if I had less scar tissue it would have been better. The second was a little more painful--and had more scar tissue. I tried to get the needle through and managed to...but it was crooked.

I didn't realize it until I tried to put the jewelry through. My sisters and I sat there for about an hour trying desperately to get the jewelry out of the exit hole until I finally realized it just wouldn't happen. I'd asked one of my baby sisters to cut the exit hole where the jewelry was trying to go through with the side of the needle, but she couldn't get it deep enough and all it did was frustrate me. So I wiped away the blood (She was a gusher, let me tell ya.) and repierced it through the same entrance hole at the same angle--but with a new exit that was straight. The jewelry went in fine and I felt like a dope for not just repiercing the cursed thing before trying to play find the exit hole.

Healing has been pretty good. I'm having trouble keeping my hands off the crusties, but there's been almost no bleeding until today, which I guess was from me sleeping kinda rough. Been doing my sea salt soaks (Saved me from infection while stretching my ears, I'm telling you!) , which have been amazing. I plan on stretching these holes to sixes once they have completely healed and then buying tunnels to go along with my green Kaos earlets.

Needless to say, I'm happy with my piercings, although they're a tiny bit uneven--but I think that has to do with my first holes (My mom just popped a pair of sterling silver starters in my ears when I was two months old. Apparently I woke up for a second, looked at her like she'd lost her mind, and went back to sleep.) being uneven too. I'm hoping it will be less noticeable when I start to stretch them.
