Jestrum / Vertical Medusa

First story, probably won't be the greatest but here we go~

I've had many piercings ( nape, sternum, cheeks, septum, bridge, medusa, snakebites, and a microdermal ) I still have my dermal, cheeks and nape.

I decided I wanted to get a piercing that would go nicely with my cheek piercings, because I was getting bored of my septum ring. So I thought about it for a really long time, and I considered getting my medusa re-done. It has been about a year and a half since I got it done the first time, but I was forced to take it out after a month for a job I no longer have. I remember telling myself I would NEVER get another medusa piercing, just because the pain was indeed THAT bad. But then I started thinking, I told myself that maybe since it was the second piercing I had ever gotten, that just maybe it didn't hurt as much as I thought it did, and that I could handle it since I've gotten so many more since then.

I was still indecisive, so I waited a while and started reading around about medusa piercing stories. That didn't really help much because 50% said the pain was intense and the other 50% said there was little or no pain. Either way, it's different for everyone.

A few days later, a friend who knew I was contemplating on getting pierced in the near future told me he thought a vertical labret piercing would have suited me pretty well, and would fit nicely with my cheeks. For a second, I thought "Wow what a great idea" but I then re thought about it, and realized the ball on the top part of my lip would look amazing, but the lower ball, would not. I have to admit, I was getting pretty discouraged.. Later that day, I couldn't get the thought of how great the ball would have looked in between my two lips but I told myself it wasn't going to happen if I didn't get the vertical labret ( which I really did not want to get.)

Then I thought, What if I got a vertical medusa piercing? I had never seen one, or heard of one, and honestly thought i was the first to come up with the idea. I google searched it ( since BME had one picture only, I believe) And I must say I fell in LOVE. I had to go get it.

The next day, I head to my local piercing shop ( where I know the piercer very well, and I have been pierced there numerous times). I began to ask some basic questions about the piercing, and if the piercer has done it before, and she had. But twice only. I admit I was a little skeptical, but I told myself that's what I get for choosing such a rare piercing. She got her stuff ready, and I sat down in the chair. The marking took about 30 minutes, we wanted it to be perfect (especially since I have really defined lips and it was going to fit really nicely).

We were finally ready, and yes, I was stressing. A lot for that matter. She clamped my lips, adjusted the clamps a few times, and got the needle ready. She told me to take a deep breath in and exhale. She started from the top of my lip, and went through. If I had to compare the pain that I felt to anything I've felt in my entire life, I couldn't. The pain was excruciating and it seemed to last forever. Finally the needle came out of the lower part of my lip and once again I felt extremely sharp pains, but it was done and I couldn't be happier. She got the barbell in and it was done. I got up and looked in the mirror. At first I wasn't sure about it, because the bar was very long. I knew it would swell so it didn't bother me that much ( better be safe than sorry). I payed and left.

The next day I woke up, and the swelling had kicked in. There was a bit of dry blood and best of all, I looked like a duck. I noticed a pretty bad bruise all around the ball on the lower part of my lip. But I knew this was normal because the piercing may have caused trauma to such a sensitive area. The bruised worsened for the next 2 days ( and the blood/crust was still present) and I was getting a lot of comments on how painful it looked, although it didn't hurt at all.

It has now been 6 days since I have gotten it pierced. The swelling and bruising have gone down significantly and there is no blood or "crust" that has formed.

In all, I am very pleased with my piercing, thoughI would never get it repierced if it were an option.
