A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Space bugs!

I think it was sometime last year when I was talking to someone about getting an entire backpiece of a game of Tetris.  It turns out someone had a similar idea, although instead of Tetris, they used Galaga.  Pieszeckipower got this tattoo for her father.  Her dad used to play Galaga as a teenager, and later on the two bonded over it.  Just note, the black isn’t quite finished yet, there is still one more session to clean it up and finish it off.

The artist did a great job of trying to make the ships really look the same, that can’t have been an easy task.

hate to be a downer, but I am; maybe they should have gone a little bigger, I have a bad feeling in 5 years the black is going to overcrowd the image so much that most of it will be unrecognizable (the little legs of the ships and the white dot-stars are already being eaten alive by the black mass).

I’m not a big fan of the massive amount of black in it. But I don’t agree with comment #2, if the black eats anything, so what? The tattoo is personal and I gather that however it changes over time, the meaning won’t and the owner will still love it.

You’re right – who cares if it looks like crap in 5 years? Oh wait… maybe the guy who wanted a Galaga tattoo and not a massive black splotch (they didn’t bond over a stain in the carpet). A tattoo isn’t a car or a couch – its not something that should look like shit after you own it a while. A good tattooist strives for longevity. Warned you I was a downer.

No need to be callous. Though it is good advice to allow room for skin to expand and contract as it naturally does. All your tattoos will be stretched old bags of tie dye after you’ve lived several decades in them, the art is understanding the science behind the tissue you’re making an image on and understanding its impermanence and striving to lay clean clear and somewhat geometrically laid pieces that utilize the space skin gives us and allow for that fluctuation. I think this is a killer piece in terms of bold sentiment! Let alone wishing i also had a Galaga tattoo! Definitely nice to share what we’ve learned through experience to pass on: always wise to error on the side of caution with placing lines to close or shading differentiation too small.

Maybe you should, if you have the ability, detach yourself from your biases, cupcake? My tattoos are my tattoos regardless of what anyone else thinks of them and the meaning they hold for me won’t change if, and when, they fade or change for (what you consider to be) the worst.

Maybe the person with this tattoo feels like you. I think they probably love their tattoo and that love will carry through it’s inevitable degradation over time. Diddums, it won’t stay like this forever. Get over it, cupcake.

Meaning and sentimentality aside, all tattoos have the right to look good and all people have the right to a beautiful well thought out design….. this is not that. I understand what they were trying to do but it missed the mark. While it is an “interesting” piece is lacks both artistic and technical skill. It is a huge black rectangle that is neither straight nor properly defused at the edges. When I look at it all I can think of is the nightmare of trying to fix it or tie it into any other pieces that person might want. poorly conceived and executed.
